Patsfans is the best by far. But I browse SOSH for baseball, and they have a very active Patriot board. Any others you like?

No. I read others on occasion and VERY occasionally post when patsfans is down.

Pats ESPN boards. Not so much anymore because the board is a complete mess. You figure since ESPN is such a big name in sports they would want to have a decents boards for the fans.

That boards a joke, much like espn itself. SOSH has some good stuff when the Pats are active.

It really is. I have been reading the posts on here for about a year. Figure I would finally register and join the community :)

There is a group of transplanted Patriot fans here in California that meet up regularly at a local sports bar. We have a site on yahoo called nocpats. This is more for getting information out about meeting up for games. More information here at patsfans.

The short answer? No.

The long answer? Well, I don't post all that much anyway, but the reality is there isn't really another good site out there. Patsfans offers me enough spirited debate, opinions, and Pats news to keep my lurker-mentality happy.

Now if they'd only bring the insult thread back...

nah. this is by far the best. patsfans here generally want to have intelligent conversations, there are several fans of other teams who have some good things to say and Ian gets rid of those who try to disrupt things either as trolls or troublemakers.

:welcome:

Good to have you aboard

Thanks Ian! People on here really seem to know what they are talking about! :)

There are other pats message boards? Who knew!

I used to read and occasionaly post on the Patriots forum at KFFL, but not in the last couple of years.

Out of curiosity, I also checked out NEM's board that he created after being banned here. Haven't checked that in a while either. Might be worth another look just to see if he's managed to get the membership up at all.

Other than that, I pretty much only read and post here. I'm usually too busy to even post here, so trying to monitor multiple sites would be impossible.

Only read and post here, truth is i don't really post much anyways. With my limited exposure to the game in Britain im still trying to learn about the game as much as possible. Usually im just reading to try and pick up information and get a better understanding of the game. I usually can't contribute to a lot of discussions because they are above my level of intellect regards to football. But this board has helped me a lot to understand the game in the last few years.

I get the feeling that a lot of fans start out at espn since it is the most recognized name in sports coverage. However being the most well known they attract the largest number of people, which also means the largest number of ignorant comments. Same holds true for the other television network sites, cbs and fox. It's obvious that the business model is quantity over quality; the only thing not allowed are words that their software catches in the profanity filter.

Site like espn are large corporate businesses out to make a profit; a quality forum for sports fans is not their concern. The more people that comment, the more hits to their web site. Speculation and tabloid gossip, stories that stir the pot - they generate more interest from the nation as a whole than actual insightful analysis. Expect to find sports news that appeals to the lowest common denominator at the big national sites.

Case in point would be the two recent headline stories: Seymour traded to the Raiders, and Shawne Merriman's arrest. The Seymour trade has a profound effect on the NFL 2009 season, but I guarantee espn devoted far more time on SportsCenter to the tsk-tsk, tabloid gossip story.

We as Pats fans are fortunate to have a site like this one. While there are a few other quality independent NFL fan forums, many fans of other teams don't have any site like this to visit.

Sure, I read and post regularly on another board. I don't consider that forum any better or worse than patsfans, merely different, like the difference between Jazz and Country. Both offer great music, and some not so great. You pick your own poison and sit back to enjoy it.

I'm a member on the other populous Pats fan site but, it's such a mish mash and hodge podge of info and topics in one forum I find it unreadable. That's why we strive to keep threads on topic here.

jmt57 I have been using the message boards on ESPN since 2001 so you are right about that being the first place to go at first. When Brady hurt himself last year I was glued to the ESPN message boards hoping to hear some news. That is where I heard about this place and it is so much better.

The trolls on espn are out of control. The guy (I know it is a guy) who is more or less destroying the ESPN boards has a gimmick called Bostongirl. It was funny at first but got old quickly. Needless to say I am looking forward to posting on a board which is more controlled, more orginized and has less trolls.

I read and post frequently in the pfwinprogress.com forums.

Same with the UKPatriots forums and the NFLUK New England Patriots section.

Wait....

Is that "not so great" comment a subtle dig at a member who shall remain nameless?

I visit JetsInsider. Definite inferiority complex over there with regards to the Patriots. It's tough not to rubberneck while passing a trainwreck.
