WEEI.com: Belichick Says Pats Moving On Without Seymour

From the article

When he was asked if the defense was as good going forward, Belichick responded quickly.

We’ll find that out starting this week,” he said.

Gee, it's almost as if Bill thought about this last at the end of last year, decided what he wanted to do with the defense this year, and the type of player he wanted to fit it, and then made the moves to ensure that that happened.

Congratulations on that Bill.

Theres no way the defense would of been as good if Sey was still on the sqaud.

Would anyone expect any other statement from the team regarding Richard Seymour? He's been traded. The team moving on without him isn't exactly breaking news. As a coach Bill Belichick has to immediately transition from announcing and commenting on the trade to getting his team ready for Buffalo. Out of necessity, that includes the "it is what it is" approach and "the team will move on without him". Richard Seymour is gone - get over it...................

Yes... be nice to get something different to discuss, you know?

The thing that has me scared in the Seymour situation is that the

longer it remains unresolved, the greater the chance Roger Goodell

becomes involved. The Patriots vs Roger Goodell is a no win situation

for the Patriots. He will make Seymour a free agent or award him to

the Jets for a conditional #7 draft pick.

Maybe it was a joke, or maybe some people actually have their heads so far up their you-know-what that they think Goodell has it personally in for the Pats (as opposed to being an ass in general), but even if it were true I'm pretty sure he wouldn't be doing Al Davis and the Raiders any favors at our expense.

Any time you have a grievance, it can go two ways. Recently, more

often than not, it seems to have gone against the Patriots.

Schefter pretty much says on his twitter that going forward, Seymour's options are limited and NE get the '11 pick in all circumstances. We are moving on without Seymour. Let's win.

Remains unresolved? He was traded to the Raiders. Their head coach said he's talked to Seymour and he said he will be there. He has 5 days to join them. If he plays this year, he becomes a free agent at the end of the year, and will make big bucks. He has to head to the other side of the country. The fact that he's not already in Oakland is the biggest non-story of the year.

Have the Raiders issued the official letter to get him to report?

After that, he has 5 days to report or sit out the 2009 season.

I would think the Raiders would have to make some sort of effort

to pressure him to report?

Yeah. I found it odd that BB said 'we'll find out' instead of the type of comment he would normally make, such as 'of course its going to be difficult to replace someone of his caliber'

Yup, it's true. BB truly has no idea what his team is remotely capable of. I heard he doesn't even know any of the players by name, except for #12, Brady something... BB forgot everything, amnesia I think. And he's gone mad without Pioli to hold onto his leash. I heard he's just going to send out 11 random guys on D and just say "get the ball!"

****General rant begins here****

The last time RS was out for a considerable amount of time was 2007. He played in 9 games, starting in 8. That means he missed 7 games during the regular season. That's about half the season!! Does anybody here know what our regular season was in 2007? Anyone? That's right-16 and 0. Now how the heck did we do that without RS? F'd if I know.

While I don't expect our D to be shut down amazing, I think it's going to be gelling and operating pretty da m well when we need it most. Yes, in the meantime we'll likely have some growing pains.

No, I'm not guzzling Kool aid as fast as I can get it (although someone will likely say I am because I don't agree the world ended this past weekend). I'm just saying everybody take a step away from the ledge, chill out and stop getting so emotional. Man, it's like 2/3rds of this board is on estrogen therapy fer cryin' out loud. (no offense meant for anyone who is actually on estrogen therapy).

****General rant ends here****

This is not specifically aimed at AndyJohnson, but just a rant after reading the non stop hysteria on this board the last 3 days.

thanks for letting me rant.

Get used to it...there must be a thousand cubicle dweeb know-it-alls here that truly believe they know better than BB and the Patriots organization. You could open a thousand KFC's with all the chicken littles squawking like headless capons.

I think the trade went down more like this:

Davis: We'll give you 8 7th round picks for Tom Brady.

PAUSE

BB: How about a first rounder for Sey?

PAUSE

Davis: OK
