Anyone else see this in his mailbag?

Ask Reiss: Deep thoughts after the Seymour deal - Boston.com

On a more personal note, this will be my final Patriots mailbag on Boston.com, as this is my last week working for the Boston Globe.

It's been a great experience, and I say thank you to those who made the Tuesday Patriots mailbag one of my favorite parts of the job, and also to the great sports staff at Boston.com - Dave Lefort, Chris Forsberg, Steve Silva, Gary Dzen, Chad Finn, and Co.

I've thought a lot about the best way to communicate to readers of the mailbag what I will be up to. In this forum, I think the best way to say it is that I will still be around the Patriots as much as ever after finishing up at the Boston Globe this week, and hopefully it won't be too hard to find me. I want to thank all the e-mailers over the last four years for making this such a rewarding experience for me. I felt like I got to know a lot of you personally. Working at the Boston Globe was a longtime dream of mine, and in part because of that, I felt like I never worked a day over the last four years. Part of what made it such a great experience is the great people -- from editor Marty Baron, to sports editor Joe Sullivan, to the amazing Boston.com staff, and right on down the line. I'm excited and invigorated for a new challenge. At the same time, I'm going to miss this job greatly.

Reiss heads to ESPNBoston.com .

what a loss for the Globe and all of us!

Thanks to Mike for the great work at the Globe and hear is to him carrying the ESPNBoston site.

I just hope his new site has a blog like this for him and I hope it loads on my phone as quick because I had Reiss blog as my homepage and I could get pats info in 2 clicks on my phone.

anyone check out the new site yet???

edit: just went there and it said coming soon....well they better get reiss up quick or we will all be tweaking for a fix.

......luck to you,mikey....hope you make boatloads of dough, you deserve it.

Congrats again to Mike Reiss!! I think he's at the Globe for a few more days..maybe even a chat in 2 days..but I am hoping he can really help ESPN-Boston get a lot better!! There is a large opportunity and maybe it can be done!! Good luck Mike!!

Considering the situation at the Globe, and the uncertain financial future it is facing, even WITH a new owner (and maybe especially WITH the new owners) I think that Mike is making a very good move.

If he expands beyond the Pats beat, it's a net loss for us. But congrats to him!

Wait! Reiss is leaving the Globe. Call The Yesterday News Service! I got them a huge scoop!

Sorry, had to do it. It has been known for a week or so that he is leaving the Globe for ESPN Boston. He will still be on WBZ TV and WBZ radio for the games (and apparently weekends).

I just heard on ESPN that Tedy is now going to be an analyst for them, including ESPN Boston. Sorry if this has been posted already; didn't see that it had, and apparently I don't have enough posts to start a new thread

This guy has been a breathe of fresh air simply because he wasn't full of negativity and didn't make stuff up. Really, the bar is pretty low for Patriots reporters.

He's been good as a reporter, but never took any bold steps into analysis. He's always brought a vanilla yet thorough summary of what's happening with the team, but never rendered an opinion with much risk to it. It will be interesting to see if he does that in the new job.

One really has to wonder whether or not you've actually read the Mail Blogs that Reiss has done. There have been PLENTY of times he's gone and given the fans his opinion on what he saw. What Reiss didn't do was put of wild speculative haphazard garbage and try to sensationalize things.

Who are you to determine what opinion of Reiss does or doesn't have much risk to it??? Hell, Why would he want to become like Ron Borges, Bob Ryan, Dan Shaughnessy, or John Tomase... who wildly speculate without much support.

Also, something you clearly don't consider is that Reiss has a lot of contacts with the Patriots. He typically gets the news before others. He has shown himself to be very mindful of that and careful not to abuse the privilege.

Can we get a title change. Reiss hasn't called it quits.. The OP clearly didn't understand/know about Reiss moving to ESPN Boston..

I generally agree. He was more meat and potatoes than opinion leader which is something I like. Let's just hope the folks at ESPN don't brain wash him into believing every little thing can be turned into a major controversy and drama because they do that a lot over there. The Evil Empire is a world where accuracy and facts are secondary, hype and sensationalism take the front seat.

Done.

And please tone down the bullying of the past two posts. It's not necessary. You can make your points without the vitriol.
