God.....can't they just do themselves a favor and shut up.....I'm embarrassed for them....

Re: Tom Cable says that the Pats are holding up the trade and Seymour wants to be Rai

Eight years of Patriot football and three rings......Tom, you seriously want us to be believe Seymour is thrilled about moving to Oakland?

Re: Tom Cable says that the Pats are holding up the trade and Seymour wants to be Rai

what is Richard looking for Krafty to pick up his moving expenses?

Re: Tom Cable says that the Pats are holding up the trade and Seymour wants to be Rai

Mike Lombardi on the NFLN,just reported that the pata are in compiance with the trade terms and don't know what the h-ll Crable is talking about.

He also said that Oakland offered a 2 and 5 in 2010,but BB declined for the #1 in 2011

So his initial report about this was wr..wr..wro.... incorrect.

Some of us felt right off that it had to be BB that was dictating the terms of this trade, not Al Davis, and that BB and Kraft were eyeing the 2011 first rounder - - not adding a fourth 2nd rounder next year.

The Palace Intrigue is occuring in Oakland - - there must be some kind of internal coup taking place - - honestly, they simply can't let this escaped Alzheimer's patient gut their organization. Honestly, it would not surprise me if they are talking with the league offices about nullification due to competency isues - -and that they are merely playing for time until Goodell rules on this. 10% chance they are in for an engrossing estate court case in the Bay Area.

HBO doesn't need any script writers for their next great Sunday night show - - the script is already there in Oakland - - it could rival Six Feet Under, The Sopranos or Mad Men.

A 2011 first instead of a 2010 2nd and a 2010 makes much more sense than us wanting a 2011 1st instead of a 2010 first.

Also, when the rumors were flying, someone suggested that pioli had offered a 2010 2nd and would still do so if the oakland deal fell through.

From my perspective, the compensation seems a bit insufficient. For me a 2011 1st is about equal to the 2010 2nd as these last couple of posts indicate. I would also note that Belichick demonstrated that a 2009 3rd was worth a 2010 2nd.

In the end, we had plenty of draft choices in 2009, and have plenty in 2010. Belichick wanted to dump Seymour and a 2011 draft choice was the best value to the team that he could get.

Sorry, but wasn't the trade already finalized?

Re: Tom Cable says that the Pats are holding up the trade and Seymour wants to be Rai

Most recent I read was that the holdup is Seymour looking for a new deal from Oakland before reporting. Which makes all the sense in the world actually.

Whats a week or two of game checks to grab a 6-8 mil signing bonus?

Re: Tom Cable says that the Pats are holding up the trade and Seymour wants to be Rai

I don't think McDaniels would be dumb enough to give up a 1st rounder.
Seymours probably in his basement right now, hitting his knee with a hammer.

So is the Seymour deal done or what?????

Sorry for yet another Seymour thread, but sifting through all the others I got confused as to whether or not the deal was done. It seems very uncharacteristic for BB and company to talk openly about a trade if it was not done. I am very confused by how this seems to be handled.

Re: So is the Seymour deal done or what?????

No, it isn't. He hasn't reported yet, and he can't take (and pass) a physical until he reports. Until he passes that physical, it appears that the trade probably can't go through. We can't be sure, though, since we don't have the actual agreement in front of us.

Re: Tom Cable says that the Pats are holding up the trade and Seymour wants to be Rai

It's just a way to cover up the fact that Seymour really does not want to be there. I have to say that I feel for the guy. I wonder why Denver wasn't calling...

Excactly... Of course Cable's gonna say that. What's the alternative... admitting that no one wants to play for a whack job coach in an organization run by a whack job owner?

Perhaps Denver WAS calling, but their owner wasn't senile enough to offer a first rounder in what may be a restricted slot rookie system in 2011.

Al Davis wins again!

I know that "some of" you did. I just won't speculate that way most of the time, because it's a fool's game whether you're right or wrong. It's one of the things that makes it so amusing when people actually do accuse me of just speculating. When I'm doing so, I tend to make that pretty clear in my posts. I'm sure I don't always succeed in conveying that, but I do try.

Interesting quote from a Bay Area paper-
If he opts against showing up in Oakland, the Raiders could void the deal and get back their first-round pick. They also have the right to send Seymour a formal letter informing him of his obligation to report within five days or risk being placed on the Reserve/Left Squad List, as provided for in the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Slow-to-report Seymour doesn't have many options - Inside Bay Area

Re: Tom Cable says that the Pats are holding up the trade and Seymour wants to be Rai

I think Cable also referred to slugging his assistant coach a "slight disagreement" or something along those lines.

Re: Tom Cable says that the Pats are holding up the trade and Seymour wants to be Rai

And that is what this is all about. Oakland spends a lot of time scraping egg off their faces if after touting their new savior they can't get him onboard either because they suck so much he can't bear to report or they won't pay him enough to... That is why Cable was trying to deflect this back onto the Patriots. Has nothing to do with us. The deal is done and approved by the league and the only way the player he claims wants to be there doesn't end up there is if he refuses to be there...

They don't want to start the relationship off on the wrong foot either which is what the five day letter triggers. If they send it and Seymour has a complete mental breakdown and refuses to report, they end up owning his rights for 2010 in exchange for that 2011 first... We are the only winners in that scenario. And if he does report he's beyond pissed and there is no way they get more than a year out of him.

How stupid can an organization be to trade that much for something without knowing the players demands and having some reasonable expectation they can meet them...

They probably should have checked on Dungy's availability to mediate this crisis...

I need some clarity on this. The article says otherwise - - that if he doesn't report, Oakland can merely void the trade and get their 2011 pick back.

I'm not picking sides, just would like to know what the situation is. I'm hoping you are right and the article is wrong, but I'm not sure.
