05 - Bruschi having the stroke in feb
06 Deion Branch
07 Spygate
08 Brady's knee
09 Seymour traded....

I once would just like to open a season where we just focus on the field... Although the good news is that all of these subjects became moot as the season went on, except for Spygate, but as we know that was a subject that was so over blown...

Wasn't 2004 problems with Ty Law?

I wonder what 2010 will be? Probably something really out-of-left-field. Maybe another league investigation after we manage to land Ochocinco for dirt cheap and Goodell launched a league investigation on the grounds that 'it's not really fair'.

Let's not get melodramatic, Sean. The 2007 season opened without a scandal. The scandal started about 3 quarters into the season.:)

And you forgot 2002 with the ongoing Bledsoe trade resentment in the media (see "Borges says Brady is Jeff Hostetler reference").

What year was the whole I resign as HC of the NYJ? '01?

I believe the Supreme Chancellor said it best;

"I can feel your anger. It gives you focus. It makes you stronger. " ;)

We opened the season in 2004 without a scandal. What more do you want.

You forgot the 2002 was did the Pats make a mistake letting Bledsoe go over Brady and 2001 was the Terry Glenn suspension drama.

There is one thing I forgot about 2007 , Rodney being suspended for HGH...So there was a start of scandel...

Pre-00...............

Damn, you're right! Where has all the time gone? I'm forgetting years in my advancing age. hahaha

Yep I did forget 2001 with Terry Glenn..

The 2010 season will begin with the Brady trade. You don't think

Kraft is going to pay Tom Brady Eli Manning money do you? Same

goes for paying Vince Wilfork and Logan Mankins. Kraft assumes the

organization will continue O. K. so long as he has Belichick and

a waiting list of 50,000 people.

True, but there was still a fair amount of controversy when the 2007 season started. First there was the Moss trade and all the debate over whether or not he had a bad attitude. Then Moss did not play in the preseason and Tomase began to imply that Moss would be cut before the season started. That, coupled with the way the Herald gossip pages kept on circulating rumors regarding BB's divorce and his relationship with another woman who was separated and her ex attempting to go after BB in court led to some frosty Q&A sessions in BB press conferences. Brad Childress more or less threw BB under the bus to the media by revealing that BB tried to talk him into not claiming Garrett Mills off waivers, though Childress outsmarted himself because he ended up losing Tyler Thigpen as a result. Rodney Harrison was suspended for the first four games of the season for receiving a shipment of HGH, and Richard Seymour started the season on PUP - leading some to believe the team would not be able to score enough points to win half their games that year. And before week one Mangini brought in the recently cut Reche Caldwell - many assumed to grill him for the game plan - followed by the Pats bringing in Tim Dwight, who had just been cut by the Jets.

You can't be serious with 2005, are you? Just be glad your not a Bungals fan!

I suspect it happens on every team.

Chargers are a continuing soap opera. Ditto Dallas.

Ben R. pretty much assures drama every year for Pitt. Plus they've had ownership changes and so on.

Marvin Harrison delivered annual drama for the Colts.

Etc., etc.

Seems like we always start the season with some stuff to deal with..

Obviously, some folks weren't around for the 70's and 80's, where EVERY WEEK could bring a new soap opera script.
