Peter King: Seymour upset and friend says may not report to Oakland

Shalize Manza Young reported this AM that he would not report unless he was guaranteed that the Raiders would not franchise him....

Already working on his contract... also indicates he wants more $$$ than the tag is worth.

Make me 6'6, 310 with Seymour's talent and I would, only I wouldn't be a lazy, whining, turd like him.

This kindof crap is completely uncalled for. Show some respect already. This man's a HUGE reason this team's won 3 rings. HUGE.

Well, his agent is Eugene Parker. Same as Crabtree's agent.

Hadn't thought of that, thanks. IIRC was this guy his agent in 2005?

This is Lawyer Milloy Redux.

.........only this time, we got something in return.

I wonder if Al Davis was smart enough to put a clause in the trade that Seymour actually had to report and pass a phyiscal. I wouldn't be surprised if the Pats got that language stripped. It is Al Daivs.

Wouldn't that be an amazing footnote to this story if he didn't report?

I don't care for King but his point # 5 is a little startling.

I found it more hypocritical than startling. For several years now King and others in the media have continually ripped BB for his "old" defense. Now when he begins to shed some of that oldness, guys like King get all nostalgic/concern troll about it. With the exception of Seymour, every one of those players he listed are well past their prime. If they were still on the roster he'd be deriding BB as resistant to change.

....AND this team has a different mental make up to not walk into Buffalo and get neutered on national TV.
This team may in fact even love their coach.

I agree completely. It's not like we don't have any leadership left, you know?

93 was a GREAT player, and he earned his money. But he is a pro, and a pro knows that it's also a business.

Seymour has to look out for himself and his family. Coach has to look out for the team. It ain't personal, just business.

My life has been significantly improved these past couple years since I stopped listening to FESPN and Boomer and TJ, etc. Once I ditched those two dra queens, Sundays were much happier days... :singing:

Could not agree with you more. That's embarrassing behavior from a so-called fan.

The only way I could find the same bliss you have achieved is if I moved to New England. Unfortunately, for most of the nation, ESPN is the only major media outlet to give us consistent, biased reporting.

Count on him reporting otherwise he won't get the big payday after the season. We all know his primary motivation is money.

3M isn't much for him and that's his salary...so if he doesn't show up what happens to the trade?

Maybe he retires, what happens then?

Actually, he could sit out this year (or at least the first ten weeks) and not have it count against him. I don't think anyone will hold it against him if he doesn't want to report to the Raiders. Someone will pay him.

Typically all trades require the player to pass a physical, but I don't know if that is a requirement. If it isn't, I could see the Pats convincing Al Davis not to leave those terms in.

Seymour will come to his senses and report. He can pull the whole "not signing the franchise tender" thing next year and force a trade then. Its happened on more than one occasion. I dont see why he's making a big stink about it now. The man's a professional. He'll show up and play and move forward. Understandably, he's pretty P'd right now. He just got traded to frickin' Oakland for god's sake.

Shut up, you're not adding anything intelligent to this thread. You're just posting like an idiot.

not too worried about the leadership role on the defense......between the ruler with an iron fist and the high character guys still on the team (warren, wilfork, thomas, mayo), the attitude will be fine

I also believe BB feels this is a good year to do some 'transitioning since the offense looks like it is going to score alot of points.......and teams that hold onto bodies too long suffer in the end

the bottom line is that 'you don't mess with the zohan'.....

seymour was concerned about 'security' every time contract talks came up.......he could have taken deals for lesser money with the pats and probably wind up being more secure than pushing the limits and winding up in oakland.......if he gets hurt in oakland this year, he could break the record for going from pro-bowl to obscurity.......

now players have the right to ask for as much money as they want.......but this is the potential result

wilfork should heed this......make a good deal that pays tons of money, or get paid more while wearing a lion on the side of your helmet.......another gist is how much the team can hold all the cards........unless you play the game and hold up your end of the contract (ala samuel), the team calls the shots......
