I think you got this from PFT. Its misleading the way its written. He was originally signed by Detroit on August 24th. He played this past weekend for Detroit and had a 79 yard TD. Detroit cut him yesterday and today signed him to their practice squad. If the Pats had put in a claim, they would have got him. Detroit already cut him. Instead, I think its more likely they inquired about him joining the Pats practice squad, but he chose Detroit's instead.

If the patriots want him for the 53, they can still have him.
nope......If the patriots want him for the 53, they can still have him.
In the original post, we butchered the fact that Davis was released by Detroit and, despite interest from New England and Jacksonville, opted to join the Lions practice squad.

oh, well yeah... of course. I just assume we don't want them on our ROSTER.Please cite any post where Davis chose Detroit's Practice Squad over an offer to be on the patriot's ROSTER. Your post indicates that the player preferred the Detroit Practice Squad to ours.

I don't think they do. They would have claimed him if they did. Probably just wanted to take a look on the PS.If the patriots want him for the 53, they can still have him.
That there was reported interest (PFT) and the Pats inquired, that he was on Detroit this past weekend's exhibition game (scoring a TD) and was cut yesterday and signed with Detroit's PS indicates the Pats inquired in terms of a PS spot, not a waiver claim (they would have gotten him if they did as he cleared to signed with Detroit's PS).Please cite any post where Davis chose Detroit's Practice Squad over an offer to be on the patriot's ROSTER. Yeah, but they already have five NFL-caliber RBs on the 53, which is why they didn't put in a waiver claim. Davis was destined for Practice Squad here, or Detroit. He wisely chose Detroit where he isn't sixth best.If the patriots want him for the 53, they can still have him.
