Take that, Seymour - CBSSports.com

I think Prisco is an idiot but I do wonder why the Raiders? - If there is not another team in the league other than the Raiders willing to offer the same or even more for #93 then I would be shocked that there wasn't any.

Funny thing is that Richard is strictly an NFL DE in a 3-4 defense,Oakland is a 4-3 team - All the other AFC West teams EXCEPT Oakland all run a 3-4 so if someone had told me Seymour was going to the AFC West the Raiders would have been the longest longshot of all 4.

Probably because the Raiders offered the most for him, if I had to guess. Most teams won't give up a first rounder for a player in a contract year.

Can the Raiders re-sign Seymour? They probably have too, and it is going to be a big payday for Seymour. Seriously, if the Raiders can't sign him next year, they are going to look like bigger idiots than they already are. Losing Seymour for 2011 and their # 1 draft pick?!?

Prisco is a giant bag o'douche.

Yeah, vindictive. 'Cause that's how Belichick thinks. He doesn't think calculatingly, shrewdly. He doesn't think about the success of the team, or the long-term view. He thinks vindictive.

Prisco, you festering pustule.... First of all, do you think, maybe, the Steelers, Colts, Giants, and Raiders were all offering a 1st-rounder? Second, do you think, even if that were the scenario, it would be wiser to a.) help out a Super Bowl contending rival, possibly tipping the scales of balance from the Patriots to that club, or b.) send him to a team where he can't hurt the Pats? Third, do you think, even if that were the scenario, it would be wiser to a.) send him to a team where you'll probably end up with the 29th pick in the draft, or b.) send him to a team where you'll probably end up with the 7th pick in the draft?

Prisco: go start your car, then suck on the tailpipe for an hour.

Why exactly would you be shocked? He's 29 yrs. old, and has only one year eft on his current deal. All of the issue's concerning the CBA, just make trying to extend him before free agency that much more difficult for a conservative team.

I'm fairly certain that if a team like say the Lions, offered their 1st round draft pick, and had BB felt they were not going to be as good as the raiders, then BB wouldve sent him there. That article by Prisco was a smear job, and nothing more. Do we really think that BB sent Seymour to Oakland becuz the big bad Seymour didn't always do as BB wished? C'mon now!

I think Maybe Oakland has decided to show a little more 3-4 like their AFC West counterparts - you know the old saying,if you can't beat em join em,otherwise this move by them baffles me.

If Richard was healthy all those years after SB 39 then maybe you can make a case for giving up a #1 draft pick but for an injury prone player who definately has not been the same its a very high risk - Seymour could be one bad step away in those previously banged up legs for the past few years from missing the whole season - Its like buying a lottery ticket with your last dollar hoping it pays off.

I completely and totally disagree with this take. I think the Raiders are simply the most dysfunctional and poorly managed franchise in the league--which is quite a statement to make! Belichick just did the NFL equivalent of stealing candy from babies...nothing more, nothing less and certainly nothing insidious re seymour personally (if he has a good year, he'll go somewhere else for big bucks as soon as the season is over and the Raiders will be left holding the bag).

I suspect that BB feels it's too bad that Seymour, who contributed so much to the three Superbowl wins, got caught in the crossfire and is ending up in Al Davis' hellhole, but that he also feels that that's part of doing business in the NFL.

Seymour ... IMO ... was an NFL hall of fame caliber DE. Comparing film of Seymour when he was younger to now reveals a much slower player. It was exhillerating watching Richard pursue players from sideline to sidelins ... pursuing them from behind ... we have not seen that in a few years.

Just saying that the last few years I have been saying Seymour is a DT playing DE. He gave us great 2-gap play and was mamoth for our run defense. Richard is too pretty to be a Raider I don't think they'll like him. They like animals that make a few big plays and play it up for the zoo - those fans have no appreciation for good tactical play ... this will be interesting.

Is Richard going to be a player coach ... :p

Love having the first rounder to work with in '11. I am starting to wonder about the mojo though:

3rd Championship in 2004.

7 trades with Oakland since 2005.

And if you are going to try to guess who's going to have the #1 overall in any draft the raiders are ALWAYS worth the gamble.

I'd take #1 overall over a #25 1st and a 5th.

He missed 8 games one year, but has averaged 15 every other year. Thats not injury prone. Thats a guy who got hurt.

Due to Belichick's great FB idea no less.

From Priscos article:

"They get that for a 31-year-old defensive tackle who is entering the final year of his contract."

Isn't Seymour 29 going on 30?

I hate when these guys just flat out make stuff up and lie just to embelish thier point. Completely lazy and irresponsible jounalism.

Yep he is - Prisco got Seymours age his his own IQ mixed up - Prisco has a 31 IQ so forgive him for that mistake

Prisco is an idiot who can't even get his facts straight. Seymour is 29.

Some folks just seem to forget that, regardless of how we love this team, the New England Patriots is first and foremost a business. It ain't personal, 93.. just good business.

Coach gave quite a nice comment about Seymour, and I am certain that he hates that part of the business, having to let players go who you feel strongly about, who the fans love and respect.

But good business practices help to ensure the winning standard keeps going through the years, rather than being a one-and-done team every now and then.

respects,

I hope Brady is not listening and reading this stuff. Then again if he gets hurt again you think the Pats will treat him any different? No.

Vindictive? Yes he wanted to get back at Seymour that's why he was traded back to the black hole that is the Oakland. :trolls:

I'll never forget the SB vs the Rams......Sey was an absolute monster....unblockable.
