Yeah it's not the bottom line reason for the trade, as much as I love Seymour it was a move that was best for the team. This trade has to be somewhat geared to extend Vince, that should be the Pats number one priority.
Or could it be to extend Brady?? It sucks to see Seymour go, but its better to get something than losing him in the next free agency and getting nothing. I really hope they will extend Wilfork, but i think Brady might be the number one Priority.
No reason the Pats can't reach an agreement. Lock up wilfork now the team cannot afford or risk his potential loss. I understand the Seymour trade, BB chose Vince over seymour so let's extend the beast.
Wilfork.. Mankins and a few others come to mind, there is more to the Seymour trade than just getting 1st round pick..
I'm comfortable with whatever decision BB makes regarding Wilfork.
It's normal for a fanbase to overvalue their players so I must ask....
How good is Wilfork? I can't get the image of the 2006 AFC Championship Game out of my head. I'm referring to Indy's winning TD which came from a goal line run in which Wilfork was knocked flat on his @$$. The biggest play of the year and Wilfork was pancaked. Don't get me wrong, Wilfork is a nice player but is he worth the price that it'll take to lock him up? I'm not so sure. Does he really do anything so well that he's irreplaceable? Don't even bother answering that question b/c the truth is that there is no poster on this board who can. Only Belichick and his staff are qualified to make this decision. I'll just add that Ted Washington was a far better NT and if I remember correctly, he came relatively cheap. I think you need to be careful who you give HUGE money deals to. For a guy to warrant that kind of contract there's got to be no doubt that his skillset is irreplaceable. You give those deals to guys like Moss and Brady or even Seymour when he was younger. I'm not sure Wilfork is in that category. Im not saying he's not, I'm just saying we should all be patient and let BB handle it. If Wilfork is that valuable, BB will extend him. If he's not then he won't.
