MikeReiss Patriots trading Richard Seymour to the Raiders today, according to a league source. More to come.

I just saw that on his blog.

WTF.

Finally someone can start the thread on it.

Jeez, do we want to keep any 3-time SB winners around?

This means 4-3 for certain.

It will save over $3M on the cap but I think we'll get a lot less in return than many would expect with this being the last year of his contract.

As I said . . . WTF.

What the heck does Oakland have that we'd want for such a prize?

Presumably their #1 pick? (Not that I wouldn't take Asomugha.)

I honestly don't know what we could be getting in return? The only person worth anything is nnamdi but its not going to be for him. LB help? Thomas Howard, Kirk Morrison? Really confused right now!

Okay, was about to put the computer away... way away today... NOT ANY MORE! We better get A LOT.

The Raiders-Patriots trade connection is getting downright freakish. The best and worst-managed franchises in the league, joined at the hip.

Seymour for Nnamdi would be nice.

Seymour for Morrison and a bit more would be ok.

Seymour for anyone else unless it's a stupidly good trade, I don't like.

So we're a significantly worse team in 2009 and 2010 for a 2011 first rounder? wtf?

Words. I have none! Except...WWAAAAHHHHH! :cry2::stars2::confused:

via twitter, Adam Schefter says its for a 2011 first rounder!

It is VERY worrisome although it's better than I expected. As a FA after this year I was thinking we'd be getting a 3rd round pick or something.

A first-rounder two seasons from now? WTF?

Why? I don't understand the logic of this move, does 3 million in cap space really mean that much? Maybe the first would have more value in the future, but now who replaces Seymour as somebody who eats 2 blockers and will help with the pass rush.

20011 or 2010? There might not even be a 2011 draft. Dumb move if that is the case.

The 2011 draft is mandated by the CBA.

2012 is the first year that might be draft-less.

The only thing I can possible think of is besides needing the cap space, we are switching to a true 4-3 defense with Burgess being the starting end. Seymour is a free agent at the end of the season, I would have to think that another move is coming. This does free up a ton of cap space.
