Eight drafted and one free agent. Plus we have two more on IR, and one on PUP. Only one drafted rookie was cut.

Wasn't it just a few years ago that we only kept one rookie?

yeah, just imagine how many we would have kept if Belichick didn't suck so bad at drafting, and wasn't thoroughly out-drafted by the Steelers every year?

Make that nine, skipped Ingram. Helluva draft class.

Might be everyone kept if that one that was cut makes it onto the practice squad tomorrow...

dont forget what we said when only one rookie made the team....

that it was b/c we were stacked...

i guess on the other hand, we arent quite as stacked anymore...

Yes but we also saw this team lose Harrisson, Vrabel, Bruschi, Samuel, and Hobbs in that time span. Oh and we did bring in Moss and Welker in that draft class, yes I count those traded for players as part of the draft class.

That year our 2nd pick was a 4th rounder.
We had many high picks this year.
I think we cut/traded better players this year than we ever have before. So I think the rookies earned a job that was tough to earn, not made a team that was easy to make.

If you spin any faster you are gonna get dizzy and fall down.

Wouldn't expect much since the Patriots can't draft properly after the first round...

The Steelers are very good at drafting players.

Re: Eight rookies made the team

patchick gets her wish, one UDFA rookie keeps the trend going.

well they just cut a third rounder from LAST YEAR, so, in accordance with the hysterical standards around here, they must be downright awful.

I think it just shows a concerted effort by BB to make the team younger and faster

Actually the first round has been a trouble area(watson maroney) thats why I like trading down

You just named two solid NFL starters. One of the most remarkable things about the Pats is that, since Belichick has been here, that's the worst you can come up with for their first round picks. Even first rounders are far from a sure thing, especially in the range where the Pats are always picking- if they all turn into productive, multi-year starters at worst, then you're in good shape.

Belichick has probably been as efficient with his first round picks as anyone has. The entire DL was built with first rounders. It is among the very best in the league. Add Mayo and Meriweather and we have 5 players who are the core of our defense.

Belichick loves TE's and drafted Graham and Watson. Watson has had several injuries and still averaged a lot of catches. He is usually our #4 receiver in terms of catches. Graham was an expensive blocking back. However, he did a fine job. We can agree to disagree about Maroney. We needed a #1 running back. The choice was Maroney or Addai. In his first half of his rookie season, many had Maroney as a candidate for offensive rookie of the year. Then, he was injured. Even now, Maroney may very well be our #1 running back. At very least, it will be Taylor and Maroney sharing the load. That, my friend, is not a failed #1 pick. After all his injuries, and all the free agent additions, Maroney apparently is still considered a top running back by Belichick. Maroney could be traded tomorrow, but for today, he still is #1 running back on the patriots, or alternatively #2 to a future HOFer.

Abd the choice of Maroney appears to be better than the choice of Addai
