Good, they can use that spot for an extra RB, TE or whatever.

With their apparent satisfaction with Hoyer, and the cutting of Walter, I'm really starting to think they're just gonig with Brady and Hoyer and will add a scrub to the PS. If they need a third QB, they can always get a Huard off the couch after a week or two.

As for Feeley, it makes more sense for Philly to hang onto him, since Vick isn't eligible for two weeks.

If they don't trade for Feeley, they will most likely add Huard or another QB after the first game so that their contract isn't guaranteed. No way do they go the season with Hoyer as just the only back up. Even last year before Brady went down, they were already planning to potentially add a veteran with either Simms or Rattay.

It is a safe bet to go the first game with no viable back up who can start multiple games for Brady (barring last year proving that wrong). I still don't see the Pats having that trust in any rookie QB to be the primary back up. Even Brady was 4th on the depth chart his rookie year.

Of course, they've used Faulk as an emergency QB before, and they could have Edelman if he makes the cut(s).

They can pick up Feeley in week three when Vick can begin playing again.

We know they were planning to bring them in for a look-see, not that they were going to be signed. . . .

I believe part of this stems from the fact that the eagles will likely cut feeley anyway........it makes no sense at all for the dolphins to keep mcnabb.........and 2nd rounder kevin kolb........and micheal vick........and feeley......why give up a thing? feeley is going to hit the market anyway.....he should, anyway

I also don't believe the pats are all that ready to part with a TE now that smith is dinged up

if worse comes to worse, they run the wishbone with edelman as the QB

LOL, if they parted with a TE, it would have been smith....so i dont think his injury changes too much....

I still can't see a reason to bring in Feeley. If things are so bad that we've lost both Brady and Hoyer, and are looking at Faulk and Edelman for QB work, then we've got a LOT more problems than something for which the answer is AJ Feeley.

If Coach wants a QB who knows the system, then he would likely look at Huard. But again, there is no question for New England for which Feeley would be a qualifying answer.

and because vick sucks.

"Used" is overstated. He's trained as the emergency QB. He's taken direct snaps and thrown halfback option passes. He's played a QB on scout team. But none of that equates to taking regular QB snaps in a game.

Yup. I understand that. I'm just looking at what's onboard versus the need to go out and add someone else right now. At the moment, I just don't see the same need for a veteran back-up QB that others seem to see.

Respects,
