One that leaps out is Bruce Davis, whom the Steelers drafted higher than Kevin O'Connell last year. ;)

Assuming that the rumor of his being cut is true...Davis still has practice squad eligibility, and last year a lot of folks thought he'd look best long-term as a Pats-style ILB rather than at OLB where Pittsburgh tried him. Interesting developmental PS prospect if he doesn't end up on anybody's 53.

Any other names catch your eye?

Pope, Arizona's starting TE from last season.

Thought was interesting, must have been cap or had a poor off season and pre season.

Davis has the size to play OLB- gotta wonder why Pittsburgh cut him though. Definitely wouldn't mind if the Pats brought him in for a look.

While we're on the Pats comparison theme...he's one of two TEs drafted ahead of David Thomas who have been cut this week.

I doubt he'll make it to where the Patriots can even bring him in since he'll have to go through the waiver wire and someone is bound to put a claim in for him that has a high priority than the Pats.

Bruce Davis has the physical tools but for some reason he is Gholston-like on the field. Doesn't play special teams well, has poor instincts, got tooled several times in the preseason by 2nd and 3rd teamers. He is not better than any of the backup OLBs you have, I think.

Yeah, I was pretty bummed that Pope got cut. Philly will probably sign him.

I was a little intrigued by the Cowboys cutting Justin Rogers last week. I thought he looked good in his rookie preseason here in NE and I love his size at 6'4" - 250. I remember being surprised when Pats cut him and thought maybe they'd bring him back for ILB depth if he cleared waivers.

I thought Rogers had a good camp last year as well and was hoping he would make the team. It will be interesting to see if he lands somewhere else.

He was waived/injured, cleared those waivers, and then placed on IR by the Cowboys.

Justin was progressing well in Cowboy land, and had become the #1 reserve at OLB, first off the bench.

This year Bobby Carpenter emerged from his cacoon, fully the First Rounder he was drafted to be, after a long metamorphasis stasis.

I'd definitely like to bring him back for a look.:D

Trevor Canfield (cut by the Cards) is a Pats size/type OL, although with the trend we have going on at OG (they're getting smaller; generally 6'2" 300lbs) he might be a bit bigger than preferred (6'5" 307lbs).

I'd definitely be taking a look though.

LB Rocky Boiman was released. 6-4 236, eight years. 73 tackles in final 11 games last year. Veteran SOLB candidate.

Rookie LB Marcus Freeman - 6-1 240, very fast. Some developmental potential at ILB - could replace Tyrone McKenzie.

Beat me to it.

Boiman would likely play inside for us too.

David Tyree ...

Wow, one of my draft favorites, I'm surprised!

I'm a big Buckeye fan. Freeman plays very small.
He is closer to half LB half S than half LB half DE.
