Re: Schefter--Walter to be released

That would crack the door for Feely....

Re: Schefter--Walter to be released

Damn you're fast. I was about to post.

Interesting.

Re: Schefter--Walter to be released

There has to be a trade in the works then. Hoyer looked good at times last night, but no way we have an Undrafted FA as primary back up.

Re: Schefter--Walter to be released

Not surprising. I thought last night was a battle for the 3rd QB position and Walter clearly lost. I don't see either Walter or Hoyer being the #2 QB.

Re: Schefter--Walter to be released

Official, per Reiss.

Re: Schefter--Walter to be released

Blimey.

Curiouser and curiouser.

Re: Schefter--Walter to be released

Buckle up your seatbelts, fellas. It's gonna be an interesting weekend!

Re: Schefter--Walter to be released

This sux, because now Bill is going to throw away yet another precious draft pick on yet another mediocre (at best) vet.

Re: Schefter--Walter to be released

And interesting, have to note, how Reiss spins his coverage.

In the official morning Globe, the same quote was reported. However, Reiss reported it as a professional statement. In this version, he comments on Walter's emotions:

Walter was clearly agitated in the locker room following the Patriots' 38-27 victory over the New York Giants, a game in which he didn't play a snap as Hoyer went the distance.

"I'm ready every week," said a red-faced Walter, following the game. "As far as any other questions I think the guys who played should be the ones to answer the questions."

He chose not to comment on that in the Globe. That's a shame.

Re: Andrew Walter to be released

Or there is a trade in the works.

This is probably the case. I never liked Walter- I didn't think he handled press coverage well in game 1 of the preseason.

Re: Schefter--Walter to be released

The fact Hoyer played the whole game meant one of two things: Walter definitely was already on the roster, or Walter was definitely not making the roster. If he's being released then the move for another QB (Feely) has already been worked out; the Pats would be at a much lesser bargaining position if they were to try to negotiate a trade after Walter had been released.

Say hello to Michael Vick!

Re: Andrew Walter to be released

Right on, the guy sucks. I'm sure his comments after the game helped, too. Take your crappy attitude back to Oakland, Andrew :p

If I had to guess, I'd say that a Watson-for-Feeley trade is impending, or (hopefully), Smith and a pick for him.

Or he will trade whichever TE he was planning to cut anyway to the Eagles for AJ Feeley.

Re: Andrew Walter to be released

Congrats to Hoyer. I like the kid.

Stirring the pot again, eh Deus? :singing:

I'll say this much: If Coach wanted a LOT of free face time and Patriots exposure in the Press, all he'd have to do is just LEAK the idea that the Pats were THINKING about Vick.

Heh.
