Nice surprise to hear about the celebration for the 50th Anniversary Team for the home opener....anyone know where I can find the list for the players being celebrating....one halftime I won't be standing at line for a urinal!!

Reiss has the list of the entire team - minus bruschi, who was just added as a captain.
Not sure who's going to attend, but it should be most of the team that are still alive/healthy.

just adding to jmt57's post, Reiss just posted this:

BRUSCHI NAMED DEFENSIVE CAPTAIN OF 50th ANNIVERSARY TEAM

Patriots owner Robert Kraft used "executive privilege" to add recently retired linebacker Tedy Bruschi to the team's 50th anniversary squad, naming the 13-year standout the defensive captain.

Interesting that Tedy is now captain of a team that he is not included on. Buoniconti seems to come across as considering himself to be a Dolphin rather than a Pat, maybe Bruschi should take his place.

Bruschi's going to get an absolutely crazy ovation.

How does Grogan not make this team based on being underrated and a passion for the game alone.....granted I wouldn't vote him over Brady, but how does only one QB get voted in

Granted, there are some questionable selections (Curtis Martin over Sam Bam and Randy Moss over Irving Fryar are two changes I'd make) but leaving Grogan off was not one of them.

The selection appears to be based on a starting eleven on each side of the ball, plus one more player depending on formation. So on defense they included four linemen and four linebackers depending on if you prefer a 3-4 or 4-3, while on offense there are two RB and three WR depending on if you want a 2-RB, 2-WR formation or a 1-RB, 3-WR set. No room for two quarterbacks in the starting lineup; they're not running a new version of the wildcat.

So since you can only pick one player at each position to represent the Patriots for their 50th anniversary team, do you really consider Grogan over Brady?

Irving Fryar? Really??

It's the way the list laid out...three receiver slots, he, Morgan, and Brown are the big three wide receivers in Patriots history.

Fryar was a trainwreck on the Pats.

Fryar was a trainwreck on the Pats.

I'd put Branch on there over Fryar, FWIW. Hell, give it a couple more years and you pretty much have to put Moss and Welker both up there.

Was never high on Fryar... thought he was an accident waiting to happen.. my choice would have been Moss... somehow am disapointed that there was no consideration of recognizing Darryl Stingley.. but pleased to see one of my all time fave's Julius Adams.. he played in the trenches for years and often flew below the radar.

I agree 300%.

Fryar was a trainwreck on the Pats.

At this point over the 50 years he is still their #3 wide receiver all time even with the criticism from fans. He won't be on the 75th anniversary team's starting lineup though, Moss and Welker are going to knock him out at some point.

I'd prefer Givens to Fryar. I loved Givens.

This will be the last All-Patriot team Fryar will ever be on
