As you watch the game tonight one question comes to mind......Can you refrain from thinking back 2 years ago to what should have been and are you prepared to keep a clean fresh outlook on the upcoming season and forget what those guys in blue tonight line opposite NE did to us in Feb 2008?

I know it wll be tough not to remember the travesty seeing those basturds again :banned:, but we must move on and besides those two bums Plaxico and Tyree the SB killers are gone now ....

To be honest with you, I wasn't even thinking about it until this thread surfaced. And that's the God's honest truth.

Sorry to remind you - I know that I will envision myself once again going back to when I was on my knees with 30 seconds to go and tears in my eyes knowing perfection was over - Its going to hit me hard no matter how I try,I know it will but I have to keep saying to myself this is a meaningless game..this is a meaningless game..this is a.... but its not going to be easy.

I may be in the minority, but I moved on a long time ago. 2007 was a great season, but it was exhausting, mainly because of Spygate. I was glad when that season was over. They came up short and that was that.

Nah, it was a long time ago now, and both Plax & Ellis are gone, as is Rodney, and is Tyree even on the Giants any more? It's a new year d%#*!@t!!

I was right there with you, brother. I have never cried over a professional sporting event in my life but I had to walk outside away from my friends (one of whom was a huge Giant fan) and have a good cry by myself. After that, I proceeded to drink myself to levels I had never seen before nor knew existed.

It took me a good year to get over it but I have now. Will I think about it when I see both teams on the field? Sure. But I haven't been thinking about it all day. That's how I know I've recovered. ;)

If it wasn't for those loudmouth pieces of sh!t from the 72 Dolphins,I would have taken the loss a little easier, how I wanted to shut those guys up and how they were probably laughing in joy and drinking up around 10pm that night .

Well, they're just idiots, so I never really cared what they said.

I never really understood why they're so crazy about today's teams not going undefeated considering they only played 14 games back then. If they had to play the extra 2 games, who's to say they wouldn't have lost? I think they should be proud that they went 17-0 and were the only team to do that in the 14 game era and just shut up and not compare themselves to current teams.

To answer the original question, NO. What makes it even more infuriating to me is that I watched a report earlier about how David Tyree might not even make the squad this year . . . on a team that still doesn't even have a "go-to" receiver. How annoying is it that he made the biggest play in SB history?

Not to mention that the teams they played that year to win 14 games were laughable - Its like NE playing Detroit the Rams and Oakland for almost all of the 2007 season

I'm with you, I take that season for what it was, not what it almost was...I think this post was unnecessary and tries to open up long forgotten wounds...if anything this should have been from last years preseason game...

I agree. There's definitely better stuff to talk about.

I sincerely wish I had your healthy attitude. If I say I am over it though, it just means I'm not actively thinking about it. If I think about that season, and how close it was, I realize I am not, nor will ever be over it. It was so special and it was taken away at the last second. Good grief, I really believe I will never, ever really get over it.

What sucks is my TIVO often just randomly records Path to Perfection. i'd like to revisit some of those amazing regular season games, but are you kidding? I can't do it. I don't think I'll ever be able to do it.:(

Same boat here- it happened, it's over, and I don't really think about it anymore. At this point, I really only remember the good parts of 2007 (aka everything but that game). I don't think it'll bother me at all.

I think if you still think about it and we win the SB this season it will not only eradicate the sad past but will make the SB more precious and wonderful to have knowing how really hard it is to win it all - For some time it appeared with us fans that the Patriots with BB and Brady only had to make it to the big game to win it all and it opened our eyes a bit that dreadful evening and now we know its not as easy as that and because we know its not that easy would make another title that much more satisfying.

Actually, I was over it the next day. The way I looked at it, the Patriots lost a close tough game to a worthy opponent. The Patriots have won their share of those types of games so it was inevitable to go the other way once in a while. The only thing I had to put up with is, living in Southern California, San Diego Charger fans who felt it was their duty to tell me the Patriots choked. Out of all the fans of other teams that I've dealt with over the years, the Charger fans are the worst.

i have no idea what you're talking about. Did the patriots play the giants two years ago? For the life of me, i cant remember anything like that happening.

I don't dwell on the game, but I worry that we still have the same problems/weaknesses that the Jints exposed; weak secondary and vulnerability to teams with outstanding defensive push up the middle. Always optimistic, but ...

Just remind them that we've played in more Super Bowls than they've even won. That'll shut them up. Either that, or throw a taco and watch them run and fetch it. That's also a sure-fire method to get them off your back. ;)

And to all of you who are way too easily offended, I'M KIDDING!

Me too.... I hadn't been that upset since Desmond Howard ran back that kickoff in '96. I was just sick to my stomach over that loss, and I didn't even visit this board or read a single football story for almost a month afterward. I also drank myself silly. It was the only way I could get to sleep after that game. Heck, it's still the only way I can sleep some nights, but that has nothing to do with that game.

I've moved on, and I know that even though the laundry will be the same, the teams are different and it's a whole new season. Still, I hope we kick their collective @sses up one side of the field and down the other. ;)
