Kind of related to the other thread when talking about Team Revenue but most impressive is the fact that when Parcells becomes a part of your organization your revenue increases rather rapidly - 4 out of the top 5 teams rated by Forbes had Parcells as a member of that team in the past and present (Miami) and even Miami at 18 as well so its 5 out of 18 - That shows you what an influence the Tuna has been to the NFL and how much he means to an organizations success and making them money.

Parcells drafted key players for those SB teams that just happened to be years later,nevertheless he picked them - Bruschi,Law,Milloy,Brown,McGinest ect: - He certainly deserves the credit for getting those guys on board in the first place.

He deserves credit for drafting those guys, of course. But for the three Super Bowls we won, I'd give the credit to Brady and Belichick.

Gotta give the guy credit. Parcells has a personal brand that he has built which is his methodology in building football programs = winning. Winning leads to a increase in fan base, which improves the team's brand which generates revenue.

He comes in, the team has success which leads to additional ticket, licencing, concessionn and sponsorship revenue- which all increase the value of the franchise.

There really hasn't been any spectacular on-field success for the Cowboys, so in those terms nobody deserves credit. In terms of financial success, which is what the article was using for its benchmark, the 'boys were rich before and they're rich now, Parcells didn't make a difference.

I really think that if Parcells stayed in Dallas a bit longer he would have made Romo a much better QB and would have sent Dallas to another SB given a little longer time,He did it with every team he was on and the Dolphins better hope he stays becasue they are getting closer to a SB contender judging by last season.

I'll say he wasn't the only reason but he sure as heck should be factored into some of the reasons...

Winning helps valuations no question.

Not sure I agree. I've heard Parcells say that he lost a little bit of the enegy in coaching. Jimmy Johnson said the same thing in his last year in Miami.

Sometimes, players can pick up on that and not operate with the same sense of urgency.

Wow! Social Science 101: correlation does not mean causation. So what is the causation supposed to be? Parcells --> onfield success --> increased revenue --> increased team value?

But how much success has he had (NYG apart)? Don't the figures rather suggest that two teams (NYG, NYJ) are valuable because they have something in common -- and not that they were once coached by Big Bill? The 'boys are at No 1 and the Texans are No 6. Now what do those teams have in common? No, they're not both successful, nor were they both coached by BP. Washington are at No 2. Not coached by BP and not successful. But they DO have a 90,000 seat stadium.

Conclusion -- the main thing appears to be: location, location, location!

The only real exception seems to be New England, where a club has had a great deal of on-field success in a wealthy but not football-mad area. I can't imagine fans accepting the highest ticket prices in the league if both of those things weren't true. So it comes down to how much of the Patriots' financial success is attributable to on-field success and how much of the on-field success is attributable to Parcells. Pay your money, make your pick.
