This is my roster before the last three cuts. Done this way, I think almost everyone has their 53 included. In the end, I think there is little disagreement on this list of 56 potential roster players.

Obviously, a player or two could be put on the IR. Also, Belichick could sign players from other teams. But it seems that this where we are now. And finally, Belichick could surprise us and keep Ciurciu or Ninkovich or Jones or Ventrone. My 60 best would include those four.

Offense: 27
QB (3): Brady, Walter, Hoyer
RB (5): Maroney, F Taylor, Morris, Faulk, Green-Ellis
WR (6): Moss, Welker, Galloway, Lewis, Aiken, Edelman
TE (3): Baker, Thomas, Watson
OT (4): Light, Kaczur, Vollmer, O'Callaghan
G/C (6): Mankins, Koppen, Neal, Wendell, Ohrnberger, Connolly

Defense: 26
DL (7): Seymour, Wilfork, Warren, Green, Wright, Brace, Pryor
DE/OLB (6): Thomas, Burgess, Woods, TBC, Alexander, Crable
ILB (3): Mayo, Guyton, Lenon
CB (5): Bodden, Springs, Butler, Wilhite, Wheatley
S (5): Meriweather, Sanders, Chung, McGowan, Slater

Special Teams: (3) - Gostkowski, Hanson, Ingram

Hoyer will be cut and put on the PS. I say the Pats will only go with Brady and Walter.

10 OL is a lot. obviously some of them are going

Certainly getting harder to speculate at this point, but I guess that's the idea.

Option 1

No Hoyer--hopefully can make it to PS, although may add another QB also

No Connelly--possible that one of these at this position dosen't make it, good with 9 OL until LeVoir returns from PUP; some mixing/matching could occur at this position if needed + not totally sold on Connelly. Could maybe be O'Callahan (?)

No Lenon--another position where there is some versatility with AD possibly moving inside in case of injury. You also mistakenly have Alexander at OLB instead of ILB, so we'd already have 3 anyway without Lenon.

Option 2

No Hoyer, but another QB added. Still need 3 cuts

No Connelly/O'Callahan

No Alexander/Lenon--once again, AD can play ILB if need be. Crable to IR (?)

No Slater--with Springs being able to move to S if needed, depth here

I like this list.

I think surprise cuts will be Galloway. Springs is not playing up to par but his hit on the cap is 2.7m if cut and saves only 210,000 against the cap if cut or traded.

I agree Hoyer gets cut and makes it to PS, he has not been showcased much other than that one drive, to attract too much attention.

I think one more player will go to IR, either that or Alexander/Crable gets cut.

I think Joey G. stays, although they haven't quite gelled, he can be used to stretch the field. I think he is a better option for keeping 6 WR's than, (who would you choose? Nunn I guess) Regardless, Joey gets a chance, and we need 6 WR's here for sure, IMO.

Crable getting cut would be a surprise too, I still think he's a potential beast.

If I had to cut from 56 to 53 today, I'd cut Green-Ellis, Wendell, and O'Callaghan.

Green-Ellis goes because keeping a 5th RB makes no sense in this offense and we have needs on defense. It might not be Green-Ellis who goes (outside shot of Morris), but we won't keep 5 backs on the 53.

Wendell and O'Callaghan are cut to give us 8 Olineman. I don't like going with just one backup tackle, but I think we keep 3 QB's on the active roster atleast until Brady's shoulder is a complete non-issue. Wendell and Connolly are fighting for one spot and I believe Connolly has more versatility. Wendell can't be active on game days if he only can play C (not saying that he can't play guard, just that we've seen more versatility from Connolly).

Crable and Alexander have the most tenuous roster positions on defense in my opinion. I could see Crable put on IR or released and Alexander released. If have a hard time seeing anyone currently on the Patriots roster taking ether's place on the 53, so if one or both doesn't make the team I hope their replacements are from other organizations.

You're absolutely correct we won't keep five.. but not because one of them gets cut, but because one of then WILL get hurt.

BJGE is a very capable stong running back with a bright future. Doubt he gets cut.

We should trade watson and maroney for someone or picks. Both are in the last year of contracts, unlikely to return, someone will over pay them. We migght as well cash in now. Both are oft-injured.

from that 56 to 53, I'd cut Slater, Lenon and one of the guards.

I think Slater makes roster. He has been up and down, but his effort was never lacking.

Slater is a strong special teams contributer, we lost izzo, we usually carry someone who is solely ST. He is developing his KR & PR.

The last few cuts are naturally the hardest to make.

I like the sound of crable, but he has not produced, is he practise squad eligable?

Crable is certainly eligible, but there's no way he'd make it there. There'd be a definite handful of teams that'd be all over him.

He'd never make it past Kansas City.

One of the G/C, one LB (Alexander) and Hoyer to PS.

The potentially overstaffed positions there are QB, RB, OT, OG, and ILB.

QB - No need to give Hoyer gametime experience yet. Walter needs it, and gets three quarters Thursday. Hoyer's scrub-time performance keeps him under the radar. He gets cut and put on PS, unless Belichick knows that Pioli likes him.

OG - Too many guys here. My guess Connolly gets let go, since Ohrenberger won't make it to the PS and needs time to develop.

OT - Might go with three here. O'Callaghan is the obvious man out, if so.

RB - BJGE needs to show something on ST this week, because 5 RBs is too many, despite the injury history of 3 of our 4 primary backs. Hopefully, this decision doesn't get made for us tomorrow night.

ILB - Lenon can make the team with a strong performance, especially if he produces on ST. We need the depth, because Thomas is more valuable outside. Alexander is a Lock for ST. My guess is Lenon makes it, too. I fully expect the last three cuts to come from the offense.

Ventrone should probably have a spot on the list of potential players. I don't think he'll make it, but he could take Slater's spot, if Slater makes a final bonehead play, instead of just doing his job.

I think Crabel will come around, and I think you are way off base about Slater, good STers dont make many penalties and have better hands. But thats just my opinion, Dont beat yourself up over it...Ha!

1) My list for today is O'Callaghan, Connolly and Crable (cut or IR).

2) My alternative is to cut Slater and keep Crable.

3) As of now, I really don't want to cut Lenon or Alexander.

4) Edelman is another option for the IR.

5) Ohrnberger is another option for the IR.

6) I expect more than three of these to be cut to accomodate additions from other teams. Specifically, I expect a veteran upgrade at center/guard.
