I haven't any players for which there was no open questions. Moss looked great; but so what.

WALTER
MARONEY
GALLOWAY
VOLLMER
BURGESS
LENON (he looks like our #3 ILB)
SLATER (continued to be fine defender on special teams)

The only time I really noticed Lenon was when he got faked out of his shoe's on Campbell's TD. What did you see that was positive?

I agree about Vollmer. He looked better than Light to me.

I disregarded the fake out play for Lenon, I recall at least one good play, but I need to see more to classify him as #3 ILB. For the moment he looks like he's fighting with Alexander for #4 and not making much headway.

Where the heck was Bru last night? It's like it's Mayo, Guyton and scrubfest.

Meriweather went into my "winner: category early in the game......

I think we are seeing the last Ice Cold Bruschi this season....... pity too

question about the patriots preseason, i cant start threads yet but im a bronco fan.

is mcdaniels using preseason games to install the offense and running what an actual gameplan will look like, or using it more as practice to get better at running certain plays? the play calling has been weird to say the least.

I haven't listed our stars, even though some did well.

If he's a chip off the old block, don't take the pre-season too seriously.

We have Mayo and Guyton at ILB. Guyton may be ready to play as much as Mayo, including some OLB in ther 4-3 or not. In any case, we need another player or two for the rotation and in case of injury.

It is clear that BRUSCHI will have much less of a role this year if he even makes the squad.

LENON was brought in. He is a fine special teamer. He can start at ILB. He certainly should be an OK backup. At worst, he is depth in case of injury. The ONLY question I've had is whether he could suit up and play. I suppose if he was absolutely aweful in practice and in the preseason games, he could be cut, so that we need to rely on only Bruschi. That hasn't happened. He may need a bit of time to become proficient in the defense, but Lenon seems very likely to make the roster and have a role.

I didn't get to watch most of the game, but what did see and is a winner for me is the added speed on D. Mayo and Guyton can run and when sent on a blitz they get there in a hurry. I also like the make-up speed from a guy like Butler.

I am looking forward to see what BB has cooked up for this up coming season.

Get used to seeing the Pats running a 4-3 because they just don't have the right guys at LB to run a 3-4. In fact, Guyton is better off at OLB in a 4-3 alignment instead of an ILB in a 3-4. I just can't see him holding up the entire season playing inside. Ditto for Lenon. If Lenon makes the team, look for him to back up Mayo inside on 4-3 alignments. Lastly, Shawn Crable looks pretty worthless but Pierre Woods will be the 1st guy to rotate in for Guyton or Thomas.

2 handoffs and a near fumble? Or is he a winner because KOC looked like a loser?

Crable... I actually forgot Crable was on the team.

Walter is a winner because there is no longer another option for our #2 QB. Of course, Walter is a winner because KOC looked so bad.

Keep in mind though how bad Cassel looked last preseason and that was his 4th year in the system compared to KO's 2nd.

Bruschi was the second team MLB, they didn't use him in a 3-4 front but ran him out there with Lenon and Ninkovich. I don't think Bru's athleticism lets him do as much in the 4-3, but he takes less of a pounding than the 3-4. I expect him to make the team ahead of Alexander and Lenon as primary back-up for Mayo. I believe Lenon was a trial project after McKenzie went down at Rookie Camp - I haven't seen enough of him to express a strong opinion.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if Bruschi makes the team, gets nicked and beat up over the course of the first 8 games, ends up going on IR, and Junior Seau comes back to replace him (which would be an upgrade) for the last 8 games. I don't see Tedy contributing much, or holding up to the pounding of a long season.

I think that the defense obviously has not gelled yet (a lot of inexperienced players and lack of cohesiveness) and has had some mental lapses, but the overall improvement in terms of speed and athleticism is very noticeable, and has helped to minimize some of the mistakes. I still feel that once the defense gets its act together it will be quite good.

I agree that I'm not sure Guyton can take the 16 game pounding of playing SILB. I could see Junior Seau fitting in the Pats' plans later in the season. I do think Guyton would be a nice 4-3 WLB with Mayo playing MLB.
