Chris: Wouldn't you say this statement is a hint?

Tom had a desire to play, but we made a football decision to play other players because I think we need to see them at that position.”

I'm guessing he was cleared by team doctors, but Bill or someone else made a call to just move on to the others and let him rest. He may even have headed back into the locker room in frustration. Could also explain why he would let Chad 85 in on things, if he was pis$ed.

Bill might have been playing sit. football right then by putting some new ?'s out there for the Big Monday nighter.

Or Brady might have had his arm amputated. Also possible... :D

That's telling. It sounds like Brady told Belichick he was fine and could go back out, but Bill decided to be careful and said to just go back into the locker room and relax.

There is probably treatment for a bruised shoulder like an

ice pack.

I would guess not. There was more to it than just the words you quoted. Read the words just before the ones you quoted to get the context. Belichick was talking about substitution strategies, not Brady specifically.

I read this:

When pressed on the subject, Belichick indicated the move to backup Kevin O’Connell would have taken place regardless of what happened to Brady.

I’m saying that we made the decision to play other quarterbacks in the second half of the Washington game because we wanted to see them play. That will be the same situation going forward into the Giants game,” Belichick said. “Tom had a desire to play, but we made a football decision to play other players because I think we need to see them at that position, and make an evaluation there. That’s what I’m saying.”

to say that BB decided before the game to play KOC in the second half, and (also before the game when discussing substitution) Brady wanted to play more (as in play into the third quarter) but BB overruled him by saying that KOC would play the second half.

I still think the intent was for Brady to play the entire first half (and get in a two-minute drill - remember, he won't be playing in game 4) but BB changed his mind and put KOC in the game in the FIRST half AFTER Brady got hurt.

I still don't think Brady is hurt bad, but you have to read between the BB-speak lines sometimes.

+1

p.s. Space..... KOC didn't come out til the 2nd half. Brady got hurt on NE's last Offensive series of the half.

A quick point, folks: I added to the original blog post after listening back to the tape to make sure I got the full quote. The first quote that was put up there wasn't the entire exchange. The full back-and-forth is up there now.

This is encouraging to hear. Probably they wanted him to play 1 series in 3-Q but decided against it as precaution and ofcourse to mess with us  and rest of the league

I feeling better now and I guess will see him in 2 weeks

Brady could have a desire to play but be physically unable. He had a desire to play last year after he was hurt, but he couldn't. I'm confident too but saying Brady had a desire to play doesn't mean he could play.

Major differnce.......... I knew from the instant that play happened that that the knee was effed. This one, I didn't see nearly anything to be overly concerned about. Lot of teeth nashing and hand-wringing going on (and based on the last year we endured is probably natural), but no comparison between the to.

Brady (after swinging his arm around), was more concerned about calling F Taylor over to discuss that blown play from the series 2 plays before the injury, then about the arm. Any acute injury to the shoulder, while not being as debilitating as others, is certainly gonna be "felt" by the player. Brady gave no indications of anything major.

He appear to THINK he was gonna play as well, throwing a bit on the sideline before the half. Having a desire, and not physically being able to is entirely a different animal then THINKING you are going to play and not playing. Everything appeared to me to believe Brady thought the later.

My guess he and BB talked about 1-2 series into the 3rd and BB gave him the hook early as a precaution.

As somebody mentioned, Brady did not go to the locker room in the 3rd quarter to pout. One possibility besides ice (QBs do not go the locker room for ice BTW) , is that they decided to evaluate it (e.g., x-ray, MRI). We simply do not know. We'll know more in a couple of weeks.

Sorry, but where did this come from? This is the first I've heard of Brady "storming angrily". Where did you see this?

i was just responding to someone who suggested earlier that brady might have gone into the locker room out of frustration of being told he cant go back in the game. i was saying that brady would never do that.

That was me. I was adding some toppings to my speculation burger that he got the hook earlier than expected, a popular menu item indeed.
