Oh, please, Albert.

In Reiss's Pieces, Haynesworth is quoting as saying:

"I wasn't trying to hurt him. I'm not that type of a player, you know?"

and

"as far as trying to hurt somebody, I'm not trying to do that"

Andre Gurode would like you to watch the 26 second video:

YouTube - Albert Haynesworth stomps Andre Gurode

I'm not saying that Brady is hurt, or that Headstomp tried to hurt him, only amazed that someone who stepped on a opponent's unhelmeted head could say, "I'm not that type of player."

.

Its a physical game and I did not see anything wrong with Albert's hit on Brady - Anyone who does is just a whining beeotch IMO

Haynesworth is a hard hitter who plays hard and tough just like the way the game was made to be...and his fierceness and agility is why he is the best defensive lineman in the game - The hit on Brady was not late nor was it intentional nor was it meant to injure Tom - I get tired of the whiners and I bet Tom isnt complaining about it either.

If Tom is injured more seriously that thought,I would not blame Albert but more of the way Tom awkwardly unfortunately landed on the hit..it was no ones fault.

Other than that, what other evidence do you have to say his a dirty player? Would you say Seymour is a dirty player?

The only thing that I saw unusual is that when most DL fall on top of the QB, they sorta move or push away towards the side of the QB's body so that they dont stomp them. Haynesworth either wanted to squash Brady or is too lazy to pull to the side of him when he was bringing him down. He should know he's 300+ body weight is bound to cause some trouble for a meaningless game.

+1

If Wilfork had laid that hit on Campbell we'd all be saying what a beast he was and how the redskins shouldn't be so precious

No...because he's not a fat ****.
Seymour saves his game during the play-not taking cheap shots

Really I could've sworn Seymour stumped on Tarik Glenn's face during a Colts game a few years back.

LOL! Although I don't think Hanesworth wasn't trying to hurt Brady, I think it is hilarious that a guy who was suspended for stomping on a guy's face while his helmet was off would claim he isn't that type of player.

It is funny but to be fair that o lineman supposedly went at his knees. Now thats a cheap shot Hayneworth was just letting him no that was unacceptable, albeit in a cruel way

Rodney was the "Dirtiest Player" in the NFL for a long time. Clean hit.

Albert said all the things he should have said and he did not even have to go into any of it, it was clean.

Like Jarvis Green did to Cambell last night?

both QBs were hit hard yesterday by dlinemen and both were sore. Cambell had an ice back under his pads in an interview in the 4th quarter. No red shirts in preseason games they are gonna get hit deal with it.

The ball was gone before Haynesworth got to Brady; Hayneworth then continued through to Brady (OK, momentum), wrapped his arms around him and drove him into the ground. Common practice by DL's on all teams including ours, but unecessary and technically a penalty. I don't know why it wasn't called.

Some will say that White flags should be given to QB's in the pre-season and red non contact jerseys.

As much as I would agree that football is football and it is all about hitting - do we really want to see any QB from any team lost in pre-season??

The next thought would be we should just play pre-season games as touch football, at walk through speed, so nobody gets hurt. That would be the extreme, just like saying do away with all preseason games (which maybe they should and just have a few scrimages to be ready).

All we got is Ocho saying he is "OK" and two weeks and two days to find out for sure............I HATE pre-season.

It bothers me when defenders (even ours) really drive down on the QB like that, because it really doesn't help out the play anymore. It's not like if he had sacked Brady it would count for two or something, or he would be any more "down."

Just, why? What good does it serve? He is either just DUMB or was out to hurt him, so with what he said I guess he is just a self proclaimed idiot.

I really don't want to see QBs or any players get hurt even in the regular season. Thats why the NFL should switch to playing flag football even during the regular season. :)

+1. The ball was out of Brady's hand. Haynesworth knew it, tackled him (no problem with that) and drove him into the dround with the full weight of his body. It was unnecessary, and I thought it was against the rules.

It's complete BULL. Even Wilfork did it to Campbell earlier in the game. Almost the same thing, and I was like what the hell are you DOING man? Then Haynesworth did it to Brady. When Wilfork did it, it was as if he looked over after the pass was thrown and was like "oh there's Campbell... gotta drive him into the ground."

Basically the same thing happened with Haynesworth, he's like "oh man, there he is, THERE HE IS, I'M GONNA GEt... oh MAN he threw it, oh well, I'll just kill him anyway. It's just football people, jeez this stuff happens."

That reminds me of a Dane Cook joke: "I was gonna say 'watch out! you are about to be struck but by a rapidly moving vehicle,' but I didn't have enough time so all could get out was 'blahahuugh.'"

For years, I've heard that Light is a good LT, except against speed rushers.

Assuming that's true my question is, when did Haynesworth become a speed rusher?

Reiss posted some comments Haynesworth made to the WaPo's football blogger:
"I mean, it wasn't like I was hitting Gisele or something; he's the quarterback. It was good, it was fine. I mean, I was trying to tackle him, but I wasn't trying to hurt him. I'm not that type of a player, you know? I'm actually a big Tom Brady fan. I'm a big Patriots fan. I've always like the Patriots, I've always liked Coach Belichick. I just like the way [Brady] is."

"I hope he's all right. If I had to hit him again, I would hit him again. That's my job, that's what they brought me here to do. But as far as trying to hurt somebody, I'm not trying to do that, especially that time, because I like that team. When you step back from football, I've always liked the Patriots. I don't know why. It's just something about them. I've always liked the Patriots."

I dunno, I guess you could argue that Haynesworth figures he needs to go overboard to protect his image after the whole Gurode thing, but I'm inclined to believe him.

Also, I find it really interesting the number of players on other teams who seem to particularly like + respect BB. There's something about him that players really respond to.

Stop swearing, it's crude. :snob:

Seymour stepped on Tarik Glenn's "chest" to pursue the play. Yes, it 'did' look deliberate, I don't recall if he was fined or not, but Glenn reportedly went low on Sey and gave him a knee injury scare - being the kind and gentle fellow he is he gave Glenn a 300 lb cardiac massage on his way to play to the whistle - just a friendly reminder that season/career ending injuries shouldn't be encouraged when two big men battle. Was it in the same class as Haynesworth - no. Haynesworth let a game's worth of frustration turn into an insane rage, it happens, it's not pretty, he's flown pretty straight since that incident. Seymour's response was more measured, 'Tarik, you find yourself flat on your back and vulnerable after going low on my knees and making me frightened and angry, you won't like me mad.' Seymour's idea of a "dirty" play is usually an extra elbow in the ribs after the whistle is blown, you do see those on tape now and again.

Hopefully this puts the dirty Sey questions to rest and let's people get back to whining about a clean hit on Brady. What makes me glad is Tommy landed with his arm extended out and not on the point of his shoulder. I'd say it's more along the lines of a strain.
