Holy geez, it's on like donkey kong today, eh?

I didnt see much about it, but I guess that Tank probably did not perform well as a hybrid S/ILB during TC so I guess it was bye bye time

Look for Tank to sign up with Buffalo or Miami...or Denver

No surprises...Tank looked promising a year ago, but in camp and preseason games he seemed to be going through the motions this time.

Must have finally gotten too crowded in the secondary to keep him...still early, he could catch on with someone desperate and if not he will be by the phone waiting for a call later on.

No answers at ILB to be had there, I guess.

McGowan looks real good as the fourth safety and can play ST better. Oh well, bye bye Tank. We barely knew ye.

As soon as the ink is dry on McKenzie's contract, he will be

put on injured reserve.

Or maybe PUP. We don't have access to detailed med reports on precisely what was torn and how badly.

Sure we do...

Mike Reiss said:
McKenzie, the Patriots' third-round draft pick (97th overall), is out for the season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during rookie minicamp in May.

I had a feeling Tank was on his way out soon. Like many players, he didn't do much in last week's game. However, I could have sworn there were moments where I thought "Who is No. 26?" because of a good play. Anyone else or was I dreaming that?

To be on Reserve/PUP, McKenzie had to be on Active/PUP to

start training camp.

You can't be on active/PUP if you're not under contract. Now that he is, McKenzie is eligible to go on Active/PUP. The Packers did it with Raji once he was signed, as an example.

But he has a torn ACL. What else could he be on but IR? COuld he have had surgery and be ready to play by week 6-8?

Possible but admitedly unlikely. We're not sturgeons (sic) with access to info on how bad the tear was.

I guess. Reiss just seems very confident that it's a season-ending injury.

I am not surprised to see Williams cut... He was mediocre, at best, during the two game he played in. Granted, he played more of a coverage OLB position, but he still wasn't great..

Something to keep in mind. The Patriots did not have to release Williams to sign McKenzie. They had 2 or 3 open roster positions prior to the signing...

As for what happens to McKenzie, only time will tell. In all likelihood, he'll be heading for the IR, but if it wasn't a full tear of his ACL, then there is an outside chance he could return in November..

Anyhow.. Things are starting to pick up,.. And the roster is slowly dwindling..

The Patriots started training camp with more than two dozen

players whose contracts expired after 2009. They have addressed

the situation by extending players, trading players, and cutting players.
