Hi guys, i’ve been a long time lurker around here and thought I’d introduce myself. I’m a 23 yr old, die hard Pats fan from Western Australia, making my first trip to the US in December and can’t wait. Mainly staying in New York but I’ll be spending a few nights in Boston and going to the Jacksonville vs Pats game!

I think my family are sick of hearing my constant updates on the team, and its only going to get worse as our Australian football season is wrapping up so thought this would be a better place to talk football. It’s a great board so hopefully i’ll have as much fun posting here as I have reading. Awesome to have a place to catch up on all the Patriots news, the few people I know that like NFL are Steelers fans

Welcome!

I've always been curious about this, how popular is the NFL over there? Do they show games on TV or is it something like pay-per-view? What teams do most people like?

Welcome aboard mate. There's a few of us Aussies around, so feel free to private message and introduce yourself.

Thanks for the welcome guys :) It's not hugely popular over here CT_PatsFan, I only know a handful of people that watch it. They show a few games a week on the cable sports channels in the regular season, it's hit and miss on whether they show your team or not so I watch it on NFL Gamepass so I don't miss out.

Thanks Ausbacker, will do!

G'Day! My mother was from Oz. She got better :)... No, It's a grand country with great people. I hope to get back there soon. My mom's side still has land in the Tweed River district and I've often thought about how lovely it would be to retire down there.

Respects,

I'm in Sydney - huge Pats fan.

I can tell you that NFL isn't very popular in Australia. People often disregard it because with our more popular sports (Rugby Union, Rugby League, Australian Rules), the players don't wear helmet and pads (eg the saying is that "Americans are ****ies").

NFL will only get a mention on TV or in the newspaper if an Australian player (usually a punter) is playing. McBriar at the Cowboys was a big hits as was the Cardinals (and former Jets) punter, Ben Graham (have a look: Arizona Cardinals punter Ben Graham set for Super Bowl | The Courier-Mail ).

We get up to 5 games live, most of them are NFC East games as most are televised on Fox Sports here (so we get the Fox games from the states). We get Pats games rarely although when the Pats are playing 8pm on Sunday or MNF we get the games. No other games are shown on delayed coverage.

To be honest, the NFL could get bigger here, but it is hardly a market that the NFL would care about. I've got the opportunity to go to the Pats game in London in October (a cousin of mine works for the NFL Network and has free tickets) but unfortunately I have uni (college) exams.

What do the Aussies think of the Tri-Nations game against the Springboks?
A lot of handling errors and poor passing from the Wallabies.

Welcome! Does gamepass allow you to watch the games on your TV or is that an internet only type of thing? Anyways, nice to know there are so many Patriots fans from around the world!

Sorry didn't see this reply! It's an internet based thing but the quality is pretty good, they've made it HD this year which is a big improvement from when i've used it for the previous seasons, i watch it on a pretty big monitor and for the most part it looks great.
