Looks like his NFL career is probably done. You don't get cut twice from two different clubs before cutdown day in one preseason and go far anywhere else.
He was cut by two teams with standards (I think the Cheifs have some now anyways). He'll end up somewhere I think, someone will be lured to his physical attributes and try to do something with him.
Foreshadowing his future Raiders signing?
Oh, I got the hype. The guy is an amazing physical specimen, seemingly custom-built to impossible specs to be a Pats OLB, and he played in Al Groh's 3-4 in college. So it was easy to see potential IF he could find the maturity and work ethic that eluded him in college. Some guys do manage to grow up fast when they hit the real world. Redd, clearly, isn't one of them. So it goes.
The hype is the phenomenal athleticism that got him a scholarship, NFL contract, etc. Not enough of course, even with big time collegiate productivity (Chad Jackson).
Very true...although didn't he start at Virginia?? Some guys have a lot of potential and work hard..others think they just have to go out on the field (CJackson) and they CAN be successful in college...BUT not in the NFL...Perhaps the big difference between a Chad Jackson (or Vernon Gholston) who scored a nice 1st contract and a undraftee like Redd is the college they attended. Liberty is certainly not Florida or Ohio State. If Redd was a better student are somehow gotten to be at a big time program, he'd be sitting on 1st/2nd round dough.

Yep, he was a big-time recruit but IIRC was booted from the UVA team for reasons that never fully became public. So he's had plenty of big chances.
I thought he decided to follow his coach (Rocco) to Liberty, but there was probably something more to it since it is a huge step back to move to Liberty from UVA.
In his release from the Patriots Belichick noted that, after a full year+ in the system, he wasn't progressing from college DE to 3-4 OLB, although he did have the size and speed. He suggested that he might be a better fit in another system.
Somewhat strange that KC picked him up, given the hope for a similar defense.
But a more classic 4-3 team might be a better spot for him.
FWIW, a couple of articles that reference Redd being kicked off the team:

An excerpt from the Sporting News piece:
"Virginia linebacker Ahmad Brooks and two other defensive players are no longer members of the team, Cavaliers coach Al Groh announced Tuesday on the eve of spring practice.
...
"There's certain things that are vital to putting your team together every year, and those things become in sharper focus and are multiplied when you're in a rebuilding circumstance as we are," Groh said.
"Those thing are focus, commitment, dependability, and so while each one of these players' circumstance is distinctly different, in order to put the team together with some consistency and dependability, I've decided that it's best for us to move on from these circumstances, and it's best for these players to move on."
FWIW, a couple of articles that reference Redd being kicked off the team:
Five University of Virginia athletes and a former Cavaliers football player face criminal charges related to a break-in and fight at an off-campus fraternity house last month, Charlottesville police told the Associated Press.
Misdemeanor warrants were served last night to Zak Stair , a sophomore tackle on the football team; Eddie Pinigis , a junior tackle; Enonge Stovall , a freshman guard on the women's basketball team; and Vince Redd , a defensive end who was kicked off the football team last month.
