This was breaking news - I have not found any other info regarding this ruling as of yet ... I guess we wait and see what details are involved.

Thanks, PFinPA, but I was giggling uncontrollably when I typed that question.

Also on the list to come...Maximum 2 6oz. cups of Gatoraid per game per player - Must conserve liquids

Seems completely reasonable to me.

NHL? :wha:

Meant NFL. It's what I get for trying to type and listen to the young'n babble on about something at the same time.. :)

She's a great kid, but there's a LOT of multi-tasking to do when you're a single parent... Hopefully I'll be getting better at it in the near future! :singing:

I know what you're saying. My 5 and1/2 year old daughter loves to talk (and I do love to listen to her!). I blame all of my "Chad Jackson is going to prove all the doubters wrong" posts last year on her.

Yes.. hehe.. Children make excellent alibis.. :D

Of course, after becoming a father, I now understand completely why my own father drank.....

The young'n is 11 going on 22. Other parents will understand that completely.

Another stupid ruling, not that I expect anything less. WTF is the harm of players communicating with their fans, anyways? Another ham-fisted, overly sensitive attempt at taking the personality out of the league through short-sighted, ridiculous measures.

It would have made for one helluva TD celebration, i.e. Joe Horn!!!!!!

Imagine getting a Tweet from a player as he stands in the endzone after scoring. :D :D :D

Heh...

For some reason that reminded me of Shannon Sharpe's fake phone call from the sidelines to the president to send the National Guard to help the Patriots. I remember that game. early on, Parcells called for a fake punt that failed and, from there on, it was all over but the crying.

I was royally pissed off at Sharpe for that stunt, but I did give him props because it was funny. Not too funny when you're being beaten like that, but it was funny.

And yeah, it's a stupid rule from the biggest ego in the NFL.

Yes, I am sure fans across the world will be utterly destroyed they have to wait those long hours until after the game to hear from their favourite player.

There's no reason for the players to be twittering right before the game - you'd think they would maybe want to ... I don't know ... prepare for the game?

Hey.. I agree with your comments, but at the same time, this is just another way for Goodell to try and micro-manage the league. It ought to be a coach's call, not another petty mandate from the world's oldest hall monitor.

10 chachas

He scares me. This game we know and love is going to morph into something weird. That said I don't want our boys tweeting and twittering during a game or anytime approaching the time for focus.

But I think that's a decision best left to the owners and coaches, NOT the NFL.

Not every player who "tweets" within a certain time frame is necessarily a bad or somehow unprofessional player. Let the coach decide who's towing the line and who isn't; let the franchise owner pen his own "tweet" rules.

ugh:bricks:

Goddell is an agent of the owners. Rather than have individual owner each decide, the commish can do a blanket rule for everyone. You know that BB is not going to allow Twittering from the sideline, they would have to make an official rule. But let's say Buffalo's owner has to come out and say no Twittering - then you have TO whining that the Patriots can do, why can't he.

And in big picture terms, it is likely good for the league. There are enough distractions before/during a game, the players don't need more. What happens when you have a player twittering on the sideline and he forgets something the coach told him. Next thing you know he misses his assignment and his QB is out for the season his cracked ribs because the defesive guy didn't get blocked. If it happens to Brady (or any high profile player) it ends up being bad for the league.

Question: Is it just for Twittering on the sidelines, or does it also encompass Twittering from the press box and overhead covered areas around the stadium.

Just asking.

I say bring on Twittergate! The NFL needs another Patriots-related scandal.

Oh yes... somehow, you just KNOW that Coach and the entire Patriots organization will be dragged into some "twitter-related" affair.

And Polian will be connected too.

Word.
