According to their Twitter.

He was on and off the Broncos' roster in 2007 and 2008 before being picked up by the Vikings after the season. He converted to wide receiver in the spring but was cut on June 1 by the Vikings.

I thought we were ok at safety.
Wonder why we would sign another one.

Shadow roster, essentially.

It's not really a shadow roster if they're on the roster. I'd think if they wanted someone for the shadow roster they'd just have him in for a tryout and not offer a contract.

This is weird.

Did somebody get hurt?

Scout team material?

Re: Pats sign safety Roderick Rogers

They wanted to give him a test drive under more strenuous conditions - should be fun.

It's like you read my mind.

Aren't we still at 79? By my count, we lost 3 yesterday and have now gained 2. I suck at math though, so I'll never go by my count.

Shooting a toe off to avoid going to the dance with 'that' girl still has repercussions all these years later.

Correct. The Pats are at 79 after this signing. They still have one open spot.

With a spot still open, I think that it means that Mike Richardson is done with them.. That they are giving him a chance to hook on with another team because he's not in their plans. It would also signal that Springs is ready to go..

This is probably something like the 10-player rule Michael Lombardi referenced in his 8/4/2009 column:

Tavern Talk: the games count | National Football Post

My 10-player rule is in effect now. After camp starts, the good teams will make at least 10 moves -- some big, some small -- that will help them improve for the upcoming season and for the next season. These moves might be working the practice squad or working the main roster. In either case, they’re improving the competition of the team.

Why didn't they give a CB a test drive, or a LB? Why another Safety, esp. one as lightly regarded in his draft year as this JAG?

At least Chris Taylor makes some sense: he's here to absorb tackles, so that our over-30s don't have to. This, however, makes no sense at all.

i know this may sound stupid but in his picture on Mike Reiss' blog doesnt he kinda look like a kid who just dropped their ice cream?:)

Depends on what the contract is... I don't believe contracts immediately count against the cap initially (it's only a certain number of the highest contracts, no?), and the whole point of a shadow roster isn't that it's a player who's been brought in for a one day tryout.

The guys on the "shadow roster" would be someone who's been with the team, practiced with the team, knows what would be expected of them - and is specifically a player who likely would not be picked up by another team and would be available later in the season if a need arose.

Those are the shadow roster candidates - not the guys who worked out and did nothing else.

When I see safety/wr I assume he can't play either and has stuck around playing special teams.

I don't know, but it seems likely to me since we already have a ?/? (actually we have at least two ?/?)

6'2" 187? He's just a tall CB, what more do you want? (Don't answer, BB ain't taking orders.)

Well this is disappointing. 2 pages and no one has posted anything about Roderick Rogers, so jamokes like me, STILL don't know anything about him....except that he's 6'2
