Hey all ... Logan Mankins was carted off with what we believe to be heat-related issues. It didn't appear to be a life-threatening situation -- players were joking a bit about it after practice. But here are some more notes from a session that just wrapped up.

It Is What It Is Notes from Sunday PM practice

Thanks for that, Chris.
BTW- What's up with Welker?
He didn't play Thursday and he's not practicing today.
Is he injured? Anyone know?

I wouldn't be too worried about Welker just yet -- someone else asked me about that today, and I said it was probably a veterans' prerogative. There were a few vets who weren't out there today. I know he isn't usually the type to miss a practice, but I wouldn't get too worried about his status yet.

Chris I am so glad you were able to ease my fears on Mankins it scared the crap out of me. And I was really wondering how someone hurts themself running a lap.

Yes - the Mankins update is appreciated. Thanks again.

Obviously not good weather to make a mistake.

Welker must just be nursing something because he traveled to Philly and BB never takes players who absolutely cannot play. But what makes Edleman so potentially valuable is Welker is a key cog in this offense as well as in the return game, and because he plays like his hair is on fire there is increasingly potential be be without him periodically. Nice to have a reasonably legit backup for that...

Sounds like KOC is being prepped for his tell me why you should be the #2 audition this week. He didn't have a whole lot of up close and personal Brady mentoring his first season, and he was handed the #2 by default which has to give BB pause since he didn't look very sharp the first few weeks of TC.

If the linemen are struggling with today's heat and humidity, the next two days will be real ball busters.

No worries--it was just a bad day to be a big guy. The o-linemen were GASSED at the end of practice. Bruschi spoke with the media, and asked tongue-in-cheek "Everybody hydrated? It was hot today," which led me to believe that it wasn't anything serious. He wouldn't have made light about the situation if they didn't think it was just a case of a big dude suffering heat exhaustion.

Salt pills and no water!

Chris how would you say Galloway looked? I think it's important they get Galloway on the same page for the offense reach it's full potenial.

obviously I am not chris but I have been to alot of practices and today IMO was Galloways best day.

That's good to hear hopefully he can build a trust with Brady that in my opinion with his speed make the offense virtually unstoppable.

Well said, SBB. Today was indeed his best day. It appeared they were targeting him for work a lot of the time, and he did make some nice catches. Still appears to be working at getting the nuances of the offense, but he certainly appears like he's coming along. I think we'll get a sense of where he's at come Thursday night vs. Cincy.

Looked like Wilhite injuried his shoulder/arm in the second quarter (took himself out). hope the non-contact jersey is not a big deal.

He originally hurt it in a practice a few weeks ago and today at TC I saw him swinging his arm after a little contact and it was the same arm he hurt that day in camp....if it was a big deal I can't picture him practicing on it.

Was it all 4-3 again, or did they blow the cobwebs off of the 3-4?

I was trying to get a grasp on that but I found it was a lot of nickle and dime work. I noticed a little of both though.
