PICK THREE
9th OL
6th WR
3rd QB
5th RB
4th TE

Or he could be our 9th LB, Both are equally likey. Edelman doesn't even practice at QB. We have four other quarterbacks.

In the end, I think one our TE's will be traded. I agree that we have four who should be included in our 53 best players.

Edelman can be QB # 3 :)

I only pick two. The 6th WR, the 9th OL - GIve me 2 QBs, 4 RBs, 3TEs, and send the extra picks to the defense/STs

I think he will practice at qb when the pats are game-planning against wildcat teams. Sure, he's practicing as receiver only right now, where he has the skill set to be an immediate impact. However, as receiver, he's learning much of what a QB in our offense needs to know anyway. I just think this is an inexpensive way for the pats to retain valuable talent on a stacked roster.

If Walter shows promise and gets up to speed quickly, I think O'Connel is out, Hoyer goes to PS, and Edelman will become part-time QB.

If I'm picking 3:

OL - Vollmer
WR - Edelman
RB - BJGE

Those are my guesstimates.

WR - Edelman
OL - Vollmer
RB - BJGE

The extra one pick
I can understand that the thought Walter has been brought in for camp and will be cut.

Count me with those who is willing to go with Brady, O'Connell and Edelman at QB if it means keeping an extra OL or TE

#3 QB (O'Connell) - apparently everyone has forgotten last season. O'Connell needs to stay on the roster to continue his development, and Walter looked good for a guy who came in just a week ago. Hoyer goes to the practice squad, allowing him to continue pushing O'Connell for playing time in practice. I do not trust O'Connell or Hoyer to carry the team through a TFB injury as the lone backup--not yet. I'd like to leave that to a veteran such as Walter, who appeared to have good composure and pocket presence in the preseason opener.

#5 RB (BJGE) - other than Maroney, all of our running backs are thirty or older. All of them have a history of injury problems. Aside from that, BJGE is a nice player who does not have practice squad eligibility. As long as he has improved his pass blocking, keeping him seems like a no-brainer. Along with Maroney, BenJ could be part of the Pats' future at this position.

#9 OL (LeVoir/Hochstein/Wendell/Ohrnberger) - I feel that Vollmer is a lock for the team whether we carry 9 or not, but 3 backups is not enough for an NFL team--especially considering the injury problems the pats have had here in the past.

I think Edelman can make the team as the #5 receiver. He looks explosive. However, keeping him would require cutting one of Aiken or Lewis, who are quality players. Still, we get to keep one of them, and Edelman has the potential to be a special teams ace anyway. Looks like a win-win situation for the Pats to me.

Vollmer is NOT the #9 OL. He and Ohrenberger are locks.
A backup center is #8 for Reiss and most. Reiss counts on the PUP for the #4 OT.

Therefore the #9 OL is the 4th OT. I'll make the correction. That would be O'Callaghan, Britt or LeVoir.

I see what you're saying. I guess I'm thinking Levoir comes off PUP before the season rolls, and is ahead of Vollmer on the depth chart.

Edelman is really playing his heart out, but unless he's a ST ace, I don't see how he can make the cut.

We'll what happens. However, it seems that his competition for a roster spot is Slater.
WR/KR/PR: Moss, Welker, Galloway, Lewis, Aiken, Edelman/Slater

Both are not even close to equally likely especial if we carried 2 QBs...in the past I believe K-Faulk and Brown have had the title of emergency QB and I would think a college QB would be a better option than Faulk. I think all the poster was refering too was if the real QBs all went down:eek: who would be called on.

While Edelman and Slater clearly are both going to need to be STs guys to be here Slater does not belong in your list above he works with the DBs as a Safety and has worn blue all camp. His making the team depends on ST but if you need to label him he is a defender.

Based on his skills on defense, I think that Slater has exactly zero chance to make the team. As a returner and special teamer, he has a shot.

9th OL -- Yep. I don't see going w/o 5 interior OL + 4 tackles
6th WR -- At least. Moss/Welker/Galloway/Lewis/Edelman/Aiken/Ventrone = 7.

I'll take the OT, WR and QB without many qualms.

Why is it that a year ago when they signed Lamont Jordan, many here asked "who will they cut?" because keeping 4 RBs + a FB was an awful lot...but now, so many are ready to keep 5 straight RBs?

BJGE is a guaranteed gameday inactive barring multiple injuries. He's also not a high-ceiling developmental guy. I understand the affection for him, but I really can't see him providing greater short or long-term benefit than a Julian Edelman or Mark LeVoir, and alas, a 3rd QB looks like a necessity.
