Ive watched the game twice now and just wanted to share some thoughts with you guys...

1. As far as the rookies go I'm pretty impressed so far, they all have room to grow obviously but they all look like they can play.

Chung looks like a young Rodney, hes fast, he closes out quickly, aggressive, and will will lay you out. James Sanders will hold him off for now for the sole fact he knows the system better, once Chung gets the playbook down theres no way Sanders holds him off.

Brace had a solid day, I made it a point to watch him a couple times. There were only a few times where he was pushed back a little, but a majority of the time he held his ground really well and just wasn't moved at all.

Butler looked quick and smooth just as advertised, the one PI call on him was a lil downer but not a big deal. He's a solid tackler who shows the ability to close out quickly on receivers.

Vollmer didnt get beat once from what I remember, on one particular running play I seen him drive a defender back about 7 yards. I think he's #1 if Light or Kaczur go down. He will be our starting either left or right tackle for sure next season.

2. I think the secondary is going to be very good. Wilhite was impressive last night, he was stride for stride on go routes with any of the PHI WR'S. Bodden looked good, the one pass he gave up to D. Jackson was only a result of McNabb buying extra time for him to get open with him scrambling. He had good coverage on Curtis I believe it was one on one where PHI went for the end zone from the 20 on a go route.

3. The front 7 is stacked, I think were going to see a number of different looks from them this year. Whether its a 34 or 43 formation, although the 43 still needs some fine tuning, the thought of having Wilfork and Brace in the middle is frightening for opposing offenses trying to run the ball. Burgess showed good burst coming off the edge, Tully had a nice sack of McNabb beating all pro Jason Peters. Mayo and Guyton still need to improve on there coverage skills, hopefully that gets better with continued reps, I'm not worried about that. Both also have a knack for being and getting to the ball pretty damn fast.

4. Brady is Brady, the offense is going to be sick, theres no need to elaborate on that.

Good Take. I share much of the optimism. I think both Chung and Brace will see a lot of time this season. I feel better about our secondary than I have in years, except for maybe Asante's contract year. There's just no way BB is going to be wrong about three Day 1 picks in the secondary in the last two years.

Who intrigues me is Wilhite.... right now he looks like our Week 1 starting LCB - a tall order. Can Springs unseat him if/when he returns? Wheatley was starting to show something last year before he got injured....Whilhite has to have shown considerable improvement to leap frog him.

Another player I'm looking forward to seeing is Fred Taylor.

I'm reading a lot about how good Chung played, i wish i had seen it for myself. The feed i was watching froze in the second half, the eagles commentators :)rolleyes:) never mention who was on the field for the pats. I got to see #25 only a few times.

I agree, one of the questions remaining is will Wilhite hold off Springs to be the opening day starter opposite of Bodden? If Springs is going to hold him off he has to play in the next game, if hes out again the job belongs to Wilhite imo.

God dont get me started on the commentators, they were just horrible. The Eagles couldnt do any wrong in that game honestly. There hardly any praise of the Pats throughout the entire game. Chung got beat in coverage once for sure, maybe twice; but was solid, you can clearly see his aggressiveness and passion for the game just by watching him play.

Chung wasn't setting the world on fire or anything, when it came to actual defense. He was much more impressive on special teams.

I'm kind of pinching myself over how good these 4 second rounders look right now. (Of course I know it's still early....)

The announcers sucked, painful to listen to! As far as the game, no one has mentioned Pryor, I thought he played very well.

A fair take - good to see someone not expressly moaning about Maroney :p

I think what people have to factor in, is that the Eagles are going to be a hot offense this year (disregarding the acquisition of Vick) - they are going to move the ball extensively against some good teams.

Its nice that TBC got a sack - good pursuit on McNabb - but Peters was far from an All-Pro last night.

The guys looks fat and sluggish - I think he was pulled early and that the 'injury' was probably a smokescreen - the Patriots sniffed him out as the weaklink pretty quick and sent alot of pressure his way.

McCoy looks like a nice RB for the Eagles - this offense should put up points this year - if they can play a little less run and shoot and run the ball a little more often it'll help them convert more in the RZ.

Im optimistic about the rookies to. Are they gonna be as good as we think? Thats an impossible question, its like trying to figure out a million times a million.

You've killed people, i can see that. Probably your parents for grounding you.

I'm reasonably sure its a quote from some dumb film or other.

I googled it and the third hit says "MASTURBATION: RIGHT OR WRONG? - Black Preaching Network" so I'm just going to walk away and pretend nothing happened. :D

What Scary good is with these younger guys we will get better as the year goes on.
Still waiting for Maroney to do something but don't expect much.

Yep, and toss in eye-opening performances from Pryor and Edelman and a pretty steady job by Ingram, plus very good initial reports on Ohrnberger...8 rookies have a real shot of making this team, and not for lack of competition. Pretty impressive.

I thought it was a wasted pick. Turns out I am wrong but if he keeps playing like that, it will just cause me even more angst trying to cut teh projected roster down to 53.
