It is Tom Brady's first game back - even if a preseason game - and is a Super Bowl preview according to some prognosticators. I just can't believe the NFL network isn't broadcasting this game live.

Its cause it doent have anything involved or to do with Favre, vick, polian, etc. At least we get to see it the next day. Can't wait. !!!!

Its on at 11 PM EST Thursday night as well.

I think the issue is that it's going to be filmed by WBZ, and then handed off to NFLN. I agree it would make sense to show it at 7 anyway, but some people can just be controlling.

8pm for those of us in CA :D I'm really wanting to ignore the game until 8pm and then watch it "live" without knowing how it went but I know I won't be able to do that.

Anyone have a link to where I might be able to watch it online, live?

They only do one nationally tv preseason game at a time. During that same time slot the world champion Pittsburg Steelers will be taking on last years NFC champions, in a rematch of the last meaningful football game.

Seems like a no brainer to televise that one over Pats-Philly.

NE will have one nationally telivised game (like most teams), the 3rd one which is also the one that Brady is likely to see the most time.

I think this is a contract issue.ESPN has the game this thursday and FOX has the game next thurs 8/20.So,I don't think NFLN has the right to show these games until they are completed.

I'm guessing he doesnt play. And everyone (or alteast alot) on here will start to talk about how he must still be hurt.

And also, after they lose a preseason game, people will also talk about how it could be a bad season. It's like that every year.

Im in CA also, what part of CA are you around?

You must not have heard Robert Kraft's guarantee today:

Yeah. I'm going to have the same exact problem as I am going to wait until the 11 P.M. showing to actually watch the game (would rather not watch it through an online feed). However, I know I'm going to be checking the GameCast on ESPN like a madman.

IIRC the pre-season games are on a separate contract with the networks than the regular season with every team free to negotiate their own which may explain why NFLN has only a few games live...

I'll be the guy in the Troy Brown jersey right behind the goalposts 6 rows up....

My guess is the nationally televised game will be breaking in with extensive time when the Pats are on offense. The drives will also be the topic of discussion.

Also, nothing will irritate our "bumblebee" associates more than to have them marginalized by this momentous event.

...

To add support to this prediction, on the drive in to work this morning, during the Sportscenter update on ESPN radio, Christine Leesee (sp?) said that tomorrow night's game will be Tom Brady's first since injuring his knee etc.

Hopefully, that means that ESPN, who I think is broadcasting the Steeler/Cardinal game at the same time, plans to cut in to our game like the poster predicts.

I also lack that self-control.

Nah. They'll go with the Steelers game...and they should. We'd expect the same if the Pats were reigning champs. Outside of New England, Brady's return will happen on Monday night in Foxboro against Buffalo, when the whole (football watching) nation will be tuned in. That's what counts.
