Texans sign veteran CB Deltha O'Neal by Jordan Godwin of the Houston Chronicle

The Texans have signed two veterans in cornerback Deltha O’Neal and running back Andre Hall. To make room on the roster, defensive tackle Jake Visser was waived, and rookie running back Jeremiah Johnson has been placed on the injured reserve and will undergo shoulder surgery.

The Texans tried out three veteran cornerbacks on Thursday – O’Neal, Mike Mackenzie and Jason Webster. Besides Hall, they also tried out running back Brad Lester.

The Texans were looking for a veteran cornerback after Jacques Reeves suffered a fractured fibula in practice this week. Reeves is out 6-8 weeks. Antwaun Molden, a second-year cornerback isn’t expected to come off PUP for two weeks.

Unfortunately for Pats fans and receivers, we have to wait until the last week of the regular season until the Pats meet the Texans.

Oh please let him still be there in week 17.

Well, that is going to going to scare Dunta Robinson to sign his franchise tender and report to camp. He thought he had the Texans over a barrel, but they showed they are serious bringing in the big guns in Deltha O'Neal.

And yet people still pick this team to finish ahead of Indy in the standings?

Maybe they never watched him play in a real game. Perhaps their Tivo was broken. Now they have just the man to stop Peyton Manning.

Why didn't they just get a Deltha O'Neal Fathead and prop it up in the back corner? It's about as effective as the real thing. :D

I wish Deltha all the luck in the world, and I hope that going to a different team and system allows him to produce better results than he was able to produce for the Patriots.

I wish him luck

man....he sucked for us.

Hes a Cal guy, so I have to give the man props.....

but he sucked.

I will only be drafing QB's and WR's from the AFC South for my fantasy team.

I highly doubt the Texans are going to keep him until Week 17, but if they DO, I will have a Cheshire Cat smile on my face. Brady and Moss will have a field day.

Funny thing is that after Week 1 of last year, and after O'Neal batted down a game-preserving pass from the Chiefs QB, I thought he was a player that could stick on the team for a few years. Boy, did that turn out NOT to be the case.

I hear that, when he bolted down field and made that tackel at like the one yard line in that kc game I thought he was gonna be the best corner on the team for a few years.

I also remember in 07 in the opener game day thread when welker dropped like 2 balls, and everyone was saying "welker drops another" and "somone tell welker to calm down" and since then, I dont think he's dropped one ball.
poing being, I guess you cant tell how good or bad a player is going to be from one or two plays.

Man, if in week 17 O'Neal picks off Brady 3 times and returns them all for touchdowns, that would be the sickest feeling...

the three picks will come from kevn O'connel when Brady is on the bench because the pats are up 52-0, then brady will come back in and throw 2 more tds. Causing a media up roar.
