That no huddle crap is going to kill them - Their players won't be able to walk by the 4th QTR.

Can't wait - and now Bill knows what they are going to do.......oh goodness.

The thing about the "no huddle" is your own players have to know what they are doing in order for it to be successful, which did not appear to be the case last night. It was only the first preseason game, but unless they get a lot sharper, the no huddle is going to hurt Buffalo more than help them.

Buffalo's run defense looked good, but I didn't see much pass defense. On offense, TO did get open on a couple of plays, but I think the Pats will be able to contain him. Other than that, I didn't see much (excpet for the INT which caused everyone in the room to murmur, "There's the Buffalo we know.") Don't worry, we'll all have our popcorn ready on opening night

It looked good at first but you could see signs of it breaking down. During the season, I don't see how their pass defense couldn't be at least decent when looking at their cornerbacks.

Please start Andy Levitre in game one. Seymour will knock him back to yesterday if he doesn't get out of his way.

You can say what you want but he never let the guy past him and Trent could have thrown the ball earleir.

Levitre will start and made several key blocks in that game, as for Seymour, we will see.

Dude, Levitre got owned. Completely.

He was a rookie starting his first exhibition game, and it shouldn't be anything to panic about, but don't start with the lame apologies already, for crying out loud. J

The starters were only in on that one drive. For what it's worth, they drove the ball 50 yards in 8 plays against a very good defense. Of course, it ended in an interception, but they showed some good things.

Buffalo has a very good secondary...very good. But without a pass rush, that might not matter, and Buffalo hasn't shown signs of a good pass rush even with the return of Schobel. I don't think Maybin will save them this year. The Bills corners give their man a big cushion and play cover 2 a lot, but what they don't seem to realize is that these schemes aren't exactly effective when you can't consistently generate a pass rush.

The Bills are using the no huddle to keep defenses off balance, disallow subsitutions, create mismatches, and tire out opposing defenses. If it works...if it works, it should help our raw offense line out and maybe disguise some of its weakness. Huge fat guys are easier to block when they are tired. On the other hand, if it doesn't work too well, the only people that are going to be tired is the Bills defense from being in there so much. 3-and-out in the no-huddle doesn't take very long.

We'll see what happens. It should at least be interesting. The Bills do have a lot of offensive weapons. They're stoked at RB and WR.

Not that I was paying a huge amount of attention, but weren't most of the starters still in there when Johnson broke off that huge run to the outside then LenDale White punched it in?

LOL, it's hard to be enthralled by a preseason game.

I was talking about the offense. The Bills offense was only in there for one series that lasted about four and a half minutes.

I think most of the Bills starters were in there on defense for the Titans first two drives. Seems like the same old Bills to me - blow an easy interception on the first drive only to get beat on a 4th and 12 play for a TD (something like that). Give up a third and 15...stuff like that.

Oh yeah, I saw that. Getting a glimpse at the Bills' skill players was pretty much the only reason that I tuned into that game. I stuck with it because I realized just how badly I missed football. :)

As for the defense, better hope they get that figured out by Week 1 (assuming you are a Bills fan).

I don't understand the fascination with trying to equate preseason results with regular season potential. You never know what coaches are trying to do or what they are really working on. And I know it sounds silly but what they are trying to do isn't always what is best thing to do to improve their chances of winning.

Plus when you factor in combinations of guys that will be used in situations that they probably would not be used in the regular season. Guys playing against 2nd or 3rd string talent and looking good etc...

There are too many things going on that would never go on during a regular season game to come to a solid conclusion.

Yeah, I'm a Bills fan, and hope is about all I have. ;)

Everyone knows that the Patriots are the team to beat in the division. To be honest, the Jets and Dolphins don't scare me at all. The Bills' weakness last year on defense was lack of a pass rush, and that looks like it could carry over into this year. Like I said, the secondary is very good...better than the d-line has made them look even. Our offense could be dangerous; it has the potential. The line is the biggest question mark...I'd call it a weakness but it's too soon for that and "question mark" makes me feel better.

Then there is the coaching staff - they seem incapable of playing to the team's strengths. They haven't so far, and that's the most disheartening aspect. They seem hell bent on trying to fit a square peg into a round hole, and Jauron doesn't seem to be a good game day coach, to put it nicely.

I'd say we're going to take the division, but I'd look like an idiot. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if we came in second in the division though.

Yep.

Look at the Detroit Lions last year as the perfect example:

Their preseason record was 4-0

Their regular season record was 0-16.

That says it all.

Oh yeah, the topic of the thread...

Levitre should be embarrassed about that play, totally. Especially when they guy that made him seem totally powerless was a second string guy...Al or Chris said that, I believe. Levitre was driven backwards like a child, didn't hold his own whatsoever, and was a big part of the reason for that INT.

As a Bills fan, I was glad to see that the Bills kept him in for a long time. I seem to remember him playing late in the game. Maybe that helped him. That was one really bad play on his part, though. There is no denying that.

In an effort to discourage some of the negative feedback I was getting on the live blog during the game and at my AskChris email about Andy Levitre’s play Sunday night I spoke to his line coach, who provided me with some good information that the critics need to hear.

Offensive line coach Sean Kugler confirmed for me that Levitre for the game had one of the highest offensive line grades of all the linemen in that game.

Kugler acknowledges that the rookie got pushed back into the pocket on Edwards’ interception throw, but it was one play.

“He had 50 other plays that were good, solid plays, but fans remember that one play and that’s the life of an offensive lineman,” said Kugler.

Some fans expressed the opinion that Levitre is too small and needs to bulk up. He reported to camp at 295, but because his strength is so good, Kugler doesn’t see the need to add much more weight to his frame.

“He’s in very good shape,” said Kugler. “He’s very strong. I’m not as concerned about the weight thing as maybe some other people are, but as long as he’s functional and he’s strong whether he’s 295 or 300 that’s not a big deal.”

Working hard in practice and with strength and conditioning coordinator J.T. Allaire, Levitre has successfully added six pounds of lean muscle to his frame in just over a week of camp and is checking in at about 301 to 302 according to Kugler.

“With his height that’s a good weight for him,” said Kugler. ”That’s kind of his weight. He’s quick at that weight and moves well at that weight and he’s a strong guy. If he were not a strong guy then there’d be a concern, but that’s not the case.

“His range is probably 295 to 305 and that’s where he is right now.”

End of story. As I noted earlier, it's nothing to panic about, but your defense of it was silly.

One bad play can end a game. Just ask David Tyree or Brett Favre...

Finally, someone who's got some sense. It was ONE play. If you watch the rest of the game, he actually did pretty well. I thought the first team offense and the first team defense did pretty well too. Of course they have a lot of work to do.

It was great to finally see some live NFL action. It's going to be a very interesting year. Getcha popcorn ready!

Yup... got to agree. One play. Sometimes one play can end a game, as was posted above, but all in all, it's one play from the very first pre-season games.

Heck, it reminds me of all the hosers going off that Cassel was kaput and Kevin OC was gonna be the next Johnny Unitas, after just 3 Pre-Season games. How'd that prediction turn out?

The Bill will be a fun team to watch this year, and who knows how things will play out? Like the man says: 'That's why they play the games".

What were you really expecting from a rookie guard playing in his very first game with a shortened practice schedule for the first game of the season.

He's no Eric Wood?
