I'm fine with lewis and there's a vast difference between him and caldwell.

Lewis #4 or 5 on depth chart.

Caldwell #1.

I am sometimes still amazed looking back how they were 2 mins from the SB with bugeyes.

Good "catch". :cool2::cool2:

Seriously, he looks like Rodney. :D

Haha man I loved those eyes. After every Reche reception and close up I would be laughing for liek 3 minutes straight.

I have a soft spot for that lil grandular freak... 2 minutes from a super bowl, a few codon transcriptions from a super bowl, whatever.

I'm probably in the minority here. But, that game pisses me as much as the Super Bowl loss to the Giants. We keep Gump from ever getting to the Super Bowl. Bears defense was falling apart by that point. Don't see how they could have stopped us and won with Rex Grossman. Though I do have a friend who thinks Grossman would have confused Belichick.
Because, he wouldn't know what Grossman was going to do anyway..

With those eyes no wonder he droped that pass, probably saw 2 or 3 balls coming his way.

+1. As much. But not more. We were well ahead. Honestly, I have a few bones to pick with the refs too.

I believe Caldwell had the lowest drop % among receivers in 2005 and 2006, after Kevin Walter of Houston.

Might have happened...remember the game against the Bears in 2000 ? Shane Matthews looked like Joe Montana that day.

Say what you will about Saucer-eyes, the man won that San Diego playoff game with a crucial 3rd and long catch down the sidelines to keep the hopes alive, then caught that game winning TD. Give the man some props, he came in as a #3 WR and was asked to be a #1, that wasn't Reche. He played his tail off for us and I appreciate what he did do. Sure, if he holds on to that ball in his gut in Indy, we're moving on to the bowl, it didn't happen, but if it weren't for what he did in SD, damn, we would not have even been in Indy for the AFCCG.......

Don't tell our resident rewriters of history, or bother to note for them that NE still scored a TD on that drive.

Grossman versus Belichick?

Come on now!

You're gonna make me barf

If you mean Gaffney's 3rd Quarter TD catch in the back of the EZ, then you are correct, sir.

If you mean the drop on 1st/15 from the Dolts 18 in the 4th Quarter, then that drive resulted in a FG to make the score 31-28.

As long as we're opening old wounds, let me defend Bug Eyes for a bit:

First, if Gaffney had not been penalized for Illegal Shift during the previous play, the Pats would've been looking at 2nd/3 from the 6.

Second, if Brady had been in the shotgun on 1st/15 - which he should've been - instead of under Center, he would've seen Caldwell open much sooner, and who knows, maybe Reche catches that pass because he would've been under less immediate duress. As it was, his extra wide peripheral vision must've seen the DB coming at him like a freight train; so by the time the ball finally arrived, he prob. was thinking about catching it, avoiding getting killed, running for daylight, maybe even his drop in the 3rd Quarter.

Third, Caldwell would not have scored a TD even if he had made the catch. The DB was too close to him by the time Brady finally saw him & threw him the ball. He prob. reaches the 7/8-yard-line.

Fourth, if the Zebra responsible for that corner of the EZ had the guts of a real man, he would've called PI on Kevlin Hayden on 3rd down, as was his duty. Just another disgraceful job by the cowardly jellyfish in stripes at the Artificial Noise Dome, under the all-seeing eye of Competition Committee member-for-life NaPolian.

As for Greg Lewis, he may have better hands than Bug Eyes, but he will have trouble getting separation, and he possesses almost no YAC ability whatsoever - think the anti-Meion Branch. But if Moss, Welker & Galloway can clear the field for him, Lewis could be a useful 3rd-down possession WR. I still wouldn't have traded a 5th-rounder for him, esp. since Philly prob. would've released him after their draft picks started signing.

U mean Reche Caldwell and yes we all love Brady that's why we never blame him for the Reche drop. Reche is a WR and should have caught that but once he caught it and got stopped after 7yds, we would have blamed Brady for not seeing him and passing to him on time.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!! Those eyes!!!!!! I had just about gotten those buggy eyes out of my head from that horrible series of dropped passes and then you have put that pic in here!!! How dare you!!! I need to take my medicine now.......cheers........

You are correct on that. Too many times, I've heard people point to that drop as a sure TD.

And I don't mean to dis bugeyes, as he played well above his head as others have noted, but, given that he wasn't carried the following season by anyone, it speaks volumes on Brady's ability to make chicken salad with chicken ..........

I dont see it
