From the various traing camp reports that folks have been delivering here, Nunn apparently has looked pretty good so far. I'll admit that I haven't given him the benefit of the doubt as to any consideration of being on the opening day roster; am I overlooking something?

Out a year, Nunn playing catchup: ex-Nebraska star learning the ropes by Ben Collins of the Boston Globe

He’s close to a gig with a contending team after being out of football for a year.

After a year out of the game, Nunn is trying to make up for lost time by absorbing as much as he can from someone he considers the best receiver in football, Moss.

“He takes a lot of interest, especially in the young guys,’’ said Nunn. “If you ask him anything, he’ll [answer] you. He’s the best. I’ve looked up to him since I was a little kid. Why not ask?’’

Nunn said Moss is helping him with everything from getting off the press - a much more physical task in the NFL - to working with his hands. It’s showing, too; Nunn twice wowed the crowd yesterday with full-extension catches.

Patriots coach Bill Belichick and his staff have taken notice.

WR is not thier strongest position, but barring injury, I look for him to get some seasoning on the PS. Back-up receivers need to be productive on STs, and he has stiff competetion there as well.

Re: Terrance Nunn - any chance he makes this roster?

Based on the reports we all read he has to have a chance. Moss, Welker are locks. Galloway is close. That's three. Then what is there, Lewis, Aiken, Nunn, Slater, Edelman. I could see them keeping 3 of those as there's some serious ST play in that group. There will be some tough cuts - and some surprises.

If they knew they'd get him to the PS I would agree. As it stands, although players usually make it to the PS who knows with Pioli, McDaniels, Mangina, etc, all out there looking for our scraps.

Re: Terrance Nunn - any chance he makes this roster?

Nunn had a really nice grab at tonights practice. Near the goal line and sideline he reeled it in while he was getting hit and came to the ground in bounds and with control.

No but he will make the Kansas City roster along with Green Ellis, Bussey,

Nunn, Thomas, Ninkovich, Pryor, and Richard.

You're overlooking the fact that there is no way Terrence Nunn makes this team.

Re: Terrance Nunn - any chance he makes this roster?

Depending on how good he is on ST, no reason he couldn't take either of Slater or Aiken's spot. IMO, those three are battling it out for two spots. Based on reports, Nunn sounds like he could be the best WR of the bunch.

It seems to happen every practice. If I had to pick six right now I'd pick Moss, Welker, Galloway, Nunn, Edelman, Aiken. Not that I want to lose Lewis or Slater but the six I picked seem like the best group of "now" combined with "upside" and also ST play.

Moss, Welker, Galloway, Lewis, Nunn, Edelman would also be interesting and a little safer than the group I listed.

Updside is an evil word.

Re: Terrance Nunn - any chance he makes this roster?

Moss, Welker, Galloway are surely locks, and Aiken will make it for ST regardless of what happens at receiver (imo); after that it's anyone's guess. Nunn and Edelman are getting great reviews, and that they're both still getting work on key ST groupings is surely a positive sign. Haven't really heard much of Slater or Lewis - anyone who has been got any thoughts on their progress?

I think Lewis has looked really good and IMO I would put him ahead of Galloway......also Slater is a DB not a WR. He has been wearing Blue all camp and I haven't seen him work as both like last year and he IMO is one of our better STs players.

Has anyone payed attention to Nunn on STs...I haven't....for some reason I fixate on Aiken and Slater (maybe it is because they usually fly down field). If Nunn shows enough on STs I could see him replace Aiken but I think Aiken is better than Slater on STs so I doubt it. I think you offer Nunn and Edelman a really high contract and hope one of them will agree to your PS for it like Britt in the past.

Thanks for the Lewis update. Good to hear.

Ha ha, should I rename the title of this thread?

That could help Slater although it's tough going in the secondary also.

If a team claims them then they become that team's property, I believe. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong. With Britt I think he cleared waivers then signed to our PS but if someone claimed him off waivers we would lose him.

Ah, the luxury of a roster where Moss-Welker-Galloway-Lewis makes for "not their strongest position." :D

Yes, you are correct; you can't just move a player from your 80-man roster to the practice squad. The player has to be released, at which point he is up for grabs to any other team through the waiver process. It's not until he clears waivers that he can be signed to the practice squad.
