Re: Belichick: Most of the missing players are "relatively close" to returning.

Thats encouraging.....hopefully the starters are the ones who are the "most"

Bill Belichick said most of the players who have missed training camp so far are "relatively close" to returning. That includes Richard Seymour and Ty Warren.

This is kind of ambigious are they saying they are included in the most or are they saying they are included in the missing.

Too add to this a bit from It Is What It Is Bill Belichick Q&A, 8/5
Q: With Richard Seymour and Ty Warren having limited practice, are you concerned with the continuity of the defense?

BB: We’d like to have all the players out at practice for every practice. But realistically that’s not going to be the case in this training camp or probably any other training camp and probably for any other team in the league. That’s part of camp. Some guys are out there; some guys aren’t. People are in a lot of different situations and I think everybody that’s not out there — with very few exceptions — are in the day-to-day category. They are making progress. They are getting close. Whether that’s the next practice, two practices, three practices, we have to take that day by day and see how the players progress along. But I think — as a group — the guys that aren’t practicing are relatively close to getting back out there. Again, it varies from player to player and as we go through the rehab that might change. I think that a lot of these guys will be back out in a relatively short amount of time, although there’s no timeframe for that.

That is TOTAL AWESOME!!!!!!

(I know I am following training camp WAY to closely when my mood oscillates wildly with the daily PUP reports.)

I love BB. He never answers a question directly.

True fat. However, I completely agree with his approach in this case (and many others). So many times, there simply isn't a clear-cut yes or no answer, and if he were to give one, and then something changes that later on, the bottom-dwelling sports writers (and they KNOW who they are) would be all over him for "hiding the truth" or "lying" or whatever.

Better to respond like this then to toss any more chum to the sharks

Worse than ragging on BB, they would start murmuring that the player in question, was supposed to be back by now. So he must be lazy and dogging it... Or alternatively that he is hurt much more seriously.

NFL official Terry McCauley spoke to the media today and said low hits on the quarteback will be a point of emphasis. Hits like the one Kansas City Chiefs S Bernard Pollard made on the Patriots' Tom Brady will be illegal.

Really... Take them that long to realize it??? Sigh!!!

I'm sure many of the newer posters here will feel much better if that list includes Shawn Crable.

Seymour and Warren coming back to practice next week would be awesome.

You bet! That would make me a happier camper, as it were... :)

Bruschi, Whilhite, and Springs would be nice too.

Great, so that means Crable must be out for the year.

Somewhat of an update from Official Patriots Football Weekly Blog Blog Archive Wednesday afternoon notes now lets get these guys healthy and back on the field!
The Patriots completed their first full week of camp with a walkthrough Wednesday afternoon, marking just the third time in 14 practices the team hasn’t been in full pads. Instead the players donned T-shirts and shorts with most adding red Patriots hats to their attire.

-There were several notable players who have been out of action on the field including Richard Seymour, Shawn Crable, Ty Warren, Benjamin Watson, Ryan O’Callaghan and rookie Rich Ohrnberger.

Can you all believe that the first preseason game is only a week away? How exciting!

Can anybody give insight to this comment:

The one disappointment so far has been Shawn Springs, who has missed a lot of practices and is struggling to get out of his stance.

You've gotta be kidding me.

There is little doubt in my feeble mind that, had Pollard done the exact same thing to Payaton, the zebras would've thrown an after-the-fact flag on Pollard, and a "point of emphasis" would have been announced before Week 2.

P.S.: I wouldn't get too excited about any injured players returning; all Bill is saying is that none of them are dead.

translation: they'll all be on IR by the end of the week
