Nice. I hope this is the start of a trickle of players off pup.

Reiss

FOXBOROUGH -- The Patriots have concluded their morning practice here at Gillette Stadium, and in a personnel-related note, rookie Darryl Richard took part in the session.

Richard, a seventh-round draft choice out of Georgia Tech, opened training camp on the active/physically unable to perform list.

Today was Richard's first practice of camp, meaning he is now off PUP.

Off the PUP list. How long until he's off the roster?

A lot of Crable watchers, but personally I'm hoping to see Sey & Warren on the field - a concern that I worries me more that Crable.

BB will give him three weeks...unless he stinks up the place against the Eagles.

I'm starting to feel somewhat bad for this guy. As a 3rd rd pick, the Pats believe he has good upside. He then goes out and has some decent plays in 08 pre-season. Expectations start to get a little high..He gets hurt and goes on IR. Rumor is he gets stronger (legs), has a good offseason and winds up on the PUP. All I want is to see the guy play so my expectations can be aligned with reality. Coupled with the perception (mine) that the team could use a little help with the pass rush, the guy is already behind the 8-ball.

If he sucks, fine. If hes good, all the better.

Is Crable officially off the PUP? Link?

You've confused The Crab who is ON the PUP with Richard, who likely has 3 weeks to do something memorable.

Or at least something to get himself put on the practice squad...

Darryl Richard is my binky this year.

Read up about this guy - - he's a real scholar and great person.

Whether or not he becomes an Alan Page on the field, he will still be that type of man off it. That's a guarantee.

This is someone to admire.

Meet the Rookies: DL Darryl Richard

Yep. Class act. His story reminded me of a guy the Pats drafted a few years back named Chris Carter. He was a DB back in the Carroll/Grier regime. OK player. Was pre-med and finished in top 5% of his class at Univ of Texas
