I am currently watching Mike Shanahan speaking to Kraft. He came ut before practice with BB. Do we have a new OC?

Interesting. Likely just to chat, learn, exchange info.

But, BB may be willing to help out a friend and someone he respects.

What?? That's nuts!

He Shananhan was at Steelers camp over the weekend, so i don't know how much can be read itnto this.

Jmes Harrison still thought Shananhan was coach of Denver, and asked Tomlin why he was letting an opposing coach watch pratice. THis is the same James Harrison that when invited to the WH said if the President wanted to see the Steelers he could come to a game.....Not the sharpest knife in the drawer.

He was at Pittsburgh's TC last week. He is going to 5 teams camps, dont remember the others, although one was the Florida Gators.

Ah, that reduces the drama shade. Imagine if he came on as a special offensive asst. for the season, haha.

As much as I love the idea of Shanahan being the OC, would doing that be a bit dangerous in the long term?

Shanahan will be a head coach again in a year or two, so while he might make a great OC he'd also be getting all the inside info on the Patriots, which he can later use against us.

yeah, shanny is on a fact finding mission to relaunch his coaching career next season. said he wanted to check out some successful programs, particularly running the 3-4.

on one hand its cool, on the other, i'm not sure i want him to pick up too much, know what i'm saying?

Equally importantly, the Donkeys are paying him $7 million not to coach in 2009 (and, if he really wants to, another $7M in 2010), so . . . signs point to no. :)

Fantasy material: Shanahan assists/overhauls the Patriots zone blocking running game for one season.

Um. I don't think that a 16 year NFL HC with a career W/L pctg. of 0.600 and two rings is looking for an OC job, even for the greatest HC on the planet. My guess is he's catching up with friends and making the rounds of a few Training Camps while he sits out the time that I believe his Broncos contract is paying him to sit out. Probably dropping his jaw and marveling with BB at how Josh has managed to get himself in so much hot water so quickly in Denver.

Whoever is our DC and OC will be a HC somewhere in a couple of years.

I read in peter king's mmqb yesterday that he's doing the rounds to a bunch of teams, steelers, eagles, pats, cards, colts, and then going to UF to study meyer's spread

Nice. Shanny is doing some work with my favorite pro team and my favorite college team.

If someone wanted to pay me $7 million to hang out around football, I'd do the carrer change thing. Actually, I'd do it for $2-3 million.

Not dangerous... knowledge and info is so easy to obtain now that hiding is almost impossible.

Can we just get him to work with Maroney a bit for a week or two? How about all the Red Robin burgers he can eat and a Gutierrez jersey?

Coaches will pick the brains of other coaches and if allowed, watch sessions to expand on their own ability. All it is I would think as it's the first time in a good few years he's been allowed to do that this time of year.

You gotta be kidding me.

Nope. Honest-to-goodness truth. Peter king mentioned it too.

There's a sad sack or two on most every club. :singing:
