Chiefs claimed OLB Vince Redd off waivers from the Patriots.
Get used to GM Scot Pioli's Chiefs picking up the Patriots' scraps. Like most positions, Kansas City is shallow at outside linebacker. Redd offers great size (6'6/260) for an edge rusher, but lacks in the explosion department.

Vince Redd

LOL...they will claim everyone we cut. :D

He did lack explosion in the pass rush from what I saw in preseason last year, but he's got the size to set the edge. What I'd consider if I was Pioli/Haley is to bulk him up another 30 pounds and move him inside to DE - which he has played in a 3-4 while at Virginia.

It's worth noting he appears to have gotten a Belichick endorsement on his departure when BB discussed his skills applying better in a different scheme.

Yup, just like the jets when Mangina went there.

Not that long ago it was just the Jets who were signing almost every player cut by the Pats. Now they're a forgotten afterthought, with former Pats more likely to end up with the Chiefs, Broncos and Browns.

Patriots waived LB Vince Redd.
Redd, mostly a practice squad player who was active for a few games last season, was expected to add depth after the Mike Vrabel trade. He wasn't ticketed for much playing time with Paris Lenon and Gary Guyton ahead on the depth chart.

I guess BB is satisfied with Guyton and Lenon

For the sake of argument, let's assume that Pioli wont' poach Pats players that he nkows BB wants to have available. Then BB probably let Pioli know it was OK for the Chiefs to claim Redd and BB really is not interesting in developing him further. Which adds up to bad for Redd.

Don't think Pioli can afford to think that way. He has to do what's in the best interest of his team : the Chiefs. To be honnest, BB would probably respect that more than just "playing nice". BB doesn't give a crap about playing nice himself - that's why we like him.

This was probably implied when he waived the player before the 1st preseason game.

I wonder what Todd Haley thinks of the Chiefs signing all of BB's guys. I mean, Haley's not even part of BBs tree. What is he going to do with all these signings if they don't fit.
