Patriots in serious talks with DL Kevin Carter

I don't see how this can be seen as a positive development.

Has to be something wrong with Seymour, hopefully isnt too serious.

14-year-vet. Do we ever look at anyone who hasn't played in the mid-1990s?

herald reported a mild hamstring pull. Warren coming off double groin surgery might be more likely...maybe he wont be ready til week 6 he is on the PUP.

either way there are still a ton of talented guys on this line Green, Wright, Brace, Big Vince.

Is he really going to provide more production than if they had converted Redd?

I would almost guarentee it...Carter has been a productive player throughout his career and was in the 3-4 in Miami. Its the other 4 guys on our line that are healthy that I think are better and I dont want to think of the unhealthy ones as not returning.

Hopefully George Blanda's in their crosshairs too!

With Seymour and Warren's question marks I guess it was to be expected we'd look for insurance.

Sure, a guy who barely got off the practice squad at a different position would have an excellent chance of being better than a veteran who has played in this style defense before. Of course, Redd would have a whole month to "convert". Quick thinking.

I should remember more things about his career than this. But, my lasting memory of Kevin Carter is him asking the Rams bench to take him out of the Super bowl against the Titans with about 30 seconds left and the Rams trying to close out the win. The asst. next to Vermeil points it out, and **** nearly blew a gasket. Whaaatt?? 30 seconds in the super bow!! He wants out of the game. You're kidding!!!! NFL films caught it in their highlights package. Classic.

he had 4 sacks last year and 28 tackles. Not too shabby..

I know you were super excited to "catch" me, but I didn't just pull it out of my ass, Redd played DE at Virginia in the 3-4 I believe and Carter (unsigned for a reason) is 36 years old. Way to go.

I understand wanting to defend yourself but you were caught.

Redd is listed at 260....Fine for college but no way is that a pro de end in a 3-4......It would take him time to gain that weight and he likely still wouldnt not make it to 300 plus and/or be an effective athlete.

You seem to be missing the part where it was a question, not a statement.

I don't give a crap about you but I don't want Vince Redd playing DE for us. Say what you want about Carter but he's been durable and reasonably productive for years. If Warren or Seymour went down, he would be an adequate, though certainly not inspiring, replacement.

It was just a question, not a totally idiotic one as you seem to make out considering Carter is unsigned t this point.

Scott Norwood missed a FG, Adam Vinatieri made one, Dwight Clark caught a pass in the end zone, and Nat Moore spun around like a helicopter when he was tackled.

Player evaluation is much easier when you use one TV highlight per player instead of fooling around with all that game tape... :D

It cannot be good news that we need veteran help at DE. It seems likely that at least one of our DE's will not be seen for awhile.
