A very happy 32nd birthday to the franchise player we all love and missed last season

May you make a special wish as you blow out the candles on your birthday cake for a VERY healthy and happy 2009 season and to end it with a hoist of the Lombardi trophy.

Once again Happy Birthday!! :singing:

Can I have an amen from you guys in here for this birthday wish ??

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRADY!

and WELCOME BACK...I MISSED YOU.:singing:

...and AMEN!

Are we going to use this thread to trash on Tom Brady, like we did with all the other happy birthday threads?

damn 32 I think it is time we stop celebrating Tom's birthday....each new year means he is closer to the end but I gues 42 is still a long time from now.

amen

Happy Birthday Tom! :woohoo:

Welcome back ~ you've been greatly missed!!

Damn he's already 32? He's probably got five more elite years left, but 32 is the beginning of decline.

There is only 1 QB I can remember that was an 'Elite' qb at 37 and that was John Elway who got even better as he got older.

You're not entirely right, but it does get a lot tougher for these guys, even the very best, as they get older. Here's what the data show.

The average retirement age (i.e., their age at the beginning of their final season) of the 17 SB-era HOF QB's is 37.4. They started an average of 8.9 games in their final seasons with an average W/L pctg. of .528 in those two years.

Elway, of course, is the best story, putting in two of his greatest seasons and winning two SB's before retiring at the top of his game at 38! If there's a model for Tommy, that's it!!! Montana started 14 games (9--5) and had a Pass Rating of 83.6 in his final year, so that too is a good story.

The average age at which these 17 made the Pro Bowl for the last time was 34.5 (median 34.0). Moon was the oldest to make the Pro Bowl, at 41; Elway made it at 38. Aikman, Bradshaw and Starr made their last Pro Bowls at the ages of 30, 31 and 32 respectively. Montana made his last Pro Bowl at 37, as did Staubach and Young.

FYI, Moon was the oldest SB-era HOF QB to retire and did so at 42. Aikman (34), Bradshaw (35) and Namath (34) were the youngest.

The 17 SB-era, HOF QB's are: Bradshaw, Dawson, Elway, Fouts, Bob Griese, Jurgensen, Kelly, Marino, Montana, Moon, Namath, Starr, Staubach, Tarkenton, Unitas and Young.

Thanks for doing the leg work.

I don't think Elway got better as he aged, but his career legacy couldn't have ended better. He got a gift from the football gods named Terrell Davis, who basically won two superbowls for him.

Thanks.

I guess every SB win has "many fathers" and Mike Shanahan probably gets some credit here as well. But, "Two in a row is two in a row," a feat matched only by Starr, Bob Griese, Montana, Aikman, Brady and Bradshaw (who, annoyingly, pulled it off twice).

Stop aging!

Even when Brady is past his prime, he is going to have a great team around him and won't need to be the QB that he is today. In 2001 the team wasn't even as great as it is now or likely will be in 4-5 years and he still was still able to be more of a game manager type of QB.

On another note, my sister-in-law gave birth late last night therefore my new niece shares the same birthday as TFB! :D

Happy birthday, Tom! To good health. This may sound selfish but I hope you don't get to hold your birthday present in your hand until around six months from now...

Happy Birthday! Hope your gift comes to you at SB44 when you hold another Lombardi. :singing:
