I'm hoping to do a write up on our Saturday Camp session (got a lot of amazing photos) later today, but for now I have to say, this guy looks like GOLD to me.

Anyway, I'd be surprised to see Edelman NOT make the team right out of camp. Was practicing with the 1's on Sat.

Anyone else rooting for this guy after seeing him in camp?

What's so important that it has to wait?

j/k :)

Turns out four days away (shortly after seven days away) is not something the other people working on my film dig, haha.

But it will be today, doubtless.

I'm looking forward to hearing about Edelman as well. I think he's got a shot to be a good contributor to this team, both on special teams and as a receiver. It may take him a year or two, but if he can make the team out of camp, then who knows what his limit will be.

Cst - the last time I mentioned some sort of possibility, people threw giant hissy fits and temper tantrums.. so I didn't want to do that this time...

Ok, on Edelman's kick returns... that dude is crazy agile. I'll go on record as saying he has the materials to be the next Wes and maybe faster. Whatever Scout kept sliding that name onto Bill's desk deserves a cold one.

Excited about Edelman......Right now Im about at a Josh Reddick level of excitement

The problem is, who would go? Moss, Welker, Lewis, Galloway, Aiken, Slater, Edeleman... (Nunn and White are probably PS-bound.) That's seven guys who have the quality to be NFL players right now. Of course, we shouldn't assume the vets automatically make it. Belichick will not hesitate to dump Lewis and/or Galloway; we've seen him do it to vets before. But Lewis and Galloway bring different things to the table and are natural subs for Welker and Moss respectively, that I'd think they'll keep those four simply for easy continuity in-game. I don't think Aiken or Slater would slide by waivers and onto the PS, so maybe one of them has a (cough cough) "injury" in training camp before the cut, and they keep six...

That could be tough for Edelman the one thing that IMO may hold him back was that as a QB in college he likely never played STs. And while his agility makes him look like a good returner I doubt he will be a better gunner than Slater who IMO is the best gunner on the team and the other things as far as KO blocking remember slater was usually the lead blocker on the returns.

I think Edelman has shown skills and seems to belong but again he could be hurt by his lack of STs experience. I cooled a little on him after his day two struggles but still hold out hope.

Actually. . . .

Edelman really impressed at his pro day workout in the Kent State Field House. Edelman ran a 4.51 second 40-yard dash, which would have topped all quarterbacks at the NFL Scouting Combine in February and placed him in the top 15 among receivers. Edelman’s times of 3.91 seconds in the short shuttle and 10.74 in the long shuttle would have been the fastest times recorded at the Combine, regardless of position. NFL people asked him to run the short shuttle again because they didn’t believe the number and Edelman actually ran it even faster the next time.

"He’s a really skilled guy, similar to (Antwaan) Randle El and Seneca Wallace. He can play ‘Wildcat,’ return kicks, and he may be the next Wes Welker as a wide receiver," a league insider said.

Edelman’s versatility was on full display during his senior season at Kent State. Edelman led the country in rushing yards by a quarterback with 1,370 that included eight games of 100 yards or more. He also passed for 1,820 yards. If that wasn’t enough, Edelman also began lining up as a safety on the punt team and for the last few games of the season even returned punts. It’s not very usual to see a college quarterback return punts but after watching Edelman play for several years, one realizes he’s not a usual player.

[From a Kent State blogger.]

Thats crazy......but good to know and glad it happened.

imagine the hell the coach would have gone thru if he lost his QB on a STs play.

Is one of those things that Slater is a world-class !@#$-up?

I find it amazing that the guy has a real good year on STs and everyone hates him for muffing one or two returns last year when that wasnt his role Hobbs was the returner the only reason Slater was back there was due to injury. He was second on the team in STs tackles and was the lead blocker for Hobbs who was a pretty good returned last year.

It is one thing to want Edelman over him it is another to refer to him as a world-class !@#$-up
