I gotta admit, I as many of you were disappointed with his presence on the PUP.

Truth be told...I was excited about him because he was getting lots of accolades on the board...but where those accolades came from...I still don't know....What were folks seeing from him in camp last year?

That being said....When healthy I thought at the very least we'd get an above average pass rusher and with cautious optimism...the second coming of Willie McGinest.

So what do folks think the future holds for this guy? Have few moves from the pass rush side been made because of his potential....or are we counting
on getting Burgess...?

Sorry as I cannot for the life of me see TBC or Woods being the answer.....

for now they look like the answer and to be honest I am not so sure why people are so down on this duo. They compliment eachother well and each have proved themseleves to BB to be worthy of the roster and regular playing time. Has Crable? yet people are higher on him than these two so I ask why just because he was a 3rd rounder?

Sure neither Tully or Woods are likely making pro bowls but they are pretty good players who should now the system inside and out.

One of them is the answer...if the question is who will play outside linebacker.

At least for now.

I guess in my mind it's all about known quantities versus an unknown quantity.

IMO TBC is a 2nd stringer and Woods is a 3rd stringer based upon what I've seen of them. I agree...they are nice complimentary players. But based upon the fact that we've had a sub-par pass rush....no they are not the answer.

BB brought TBC back because he was a body that knew the system. He brought some measure of competition to an already weak group of OLB's. In my mind....here's the deal.

a) They know Crable is the guy...and he either had a minor set-back or they want him to continue his leg strengthening.

b) They are maneuvering to get Burgess or some other late camp cut.

c) Peppers is still...somehow" on the radar screen

d) What you see is what you get and they hope the new secondary will help the pass rush.

I hate the D option!

Unless Woods sucks that bad, the competition is over at OLB. In fact, Crable had all offseason to get his s*** straight, yet finds himself on the PUP to start training camp. This is extremely disappointing. :(

The guy didn't seem to have injury issues in college...and he has apparantly done some hard work over the off-season since folks say his legs have gotten bigger/stronger...I can't be too angry at the dude unless i know he ain't working...period.

BB had made some off comment about people needing to work to get on the field...are we 100% sure it was about Crable?

I really want to see Crable out there practicing and showing what he's got. Either he's a player that can contribute or he isn't. End of story.

How dare he get injured. Linebackers should know we expect our corps to be completely injury free. They should know the plan and stick with it.

If they want to get injured, play a position where we have backups.

All I can say is I'll be totally psyched to see the guy practicing ...SOON!

Yeah, doesn't he know that even though he has never played a down in the NFL there are posters on Patsfans.com that are relying on him?

My thoughts are...

1) that I'm a little worried about him not being in camp

2) that I think he can maybe be a good contributor, based on his draft notes and, more importantly, on how guys like Seymour were raving about him this off-season

3) that no matter how wildly binky-overrated Vince Redd was around here, his release may be a decent indicator that Crable's not that badly hurt

My answer to that is....if there wasn't a problem, people like me wouldn't be pinning their hopes on unproven commodities.

Truth be told.....you can't argue the dude was super-productive in college and it seems the team has invested a lot of time and effort into him. Those are two positive indicators.

I just dont understand how there can be any meaning in a guy getting cut that isnt good enough to survive the first week of camp, other than he wasn't very good. Other than also, many posters who thought he was were wrong, and perhps that is why there is an overreaction.
If our season is in the hands of guys who are the "80 bubble" we are in big trouble.

One of the secondary (pun intended) reasons we upgraded our back four is because of the lack of presence of a true pass rusher. You will also see a lot of blitzing this year if AD is still doing a lot of this and that and/or we don't pick up (via trade or release) a true pass rusher before the season.

If you don't put enough pressure on the QB, even someone like Damon Huard can move the ball down field.

I dont think I would call him super-productive in college. I think he was a good college player.
I also dont know how we have invested a lot of time and effort into him? He spent a year on IR.

Look, I have hopes for him too, but if he can't play we have other guys who can.
There seems to be this bizarre expectation that we have 22 starting all-pros. So when we don't the guy we have never seen play must be the next one. Then if he isnt we somehow have big problems.
Pierre Woods is an NFL OLB. Bill Belichick evidently feels comfortable with him playing for him. Will he be our best player? I doubt it. Can he do his job as part of our team defense concept? Yes, I'm pretty sure he can. I feel a lot better than he can after being here as a player a few years, getting coached, practicing and playing than I do that Crable can be some sort of out of the can star.

By the way, the post was also directed at the idea that Crable is flawed because he happens to be injured.

Andy, I don't disagree that Redd got cut because he wasn't good enough, not even close. I just think they might have been more willing to give him a bit more of a look if Crable's injury is serious, that's all.

I was agreeing with your general outlook.
I don't know how it can mean anything by cutting a guy who isn't good enough to make the team.
With out without Crable on the roster, Redd was gone.
I never buy the idea that you can read anything into the position of the guy getting cut because he isnt good enough.

If Crable doesn't play in this season , he is a BUST because everybody expects a rookie to contribute in the second year. Period.

I dont know who everyone is.
It would certainly be disappointing if the undisclosed injury that has caused him to miss 2 days turns out to cost him a full season. I suspect jumping the gun on assumin that is as bad as jumping the gun on predicting his career based on one season on IR and 2 days.

I don't know what his undisclosed injury is but he should be fine by now. It doesn't take long for Tom to be up and running.I don't see how he can sign up for 4 years and miss 2 straight years.

Would you pay a player for standing on the sideline for 2 years??? NO???

I'm concerned about Crable.
