If David Tyree gets cut, do Pats think about signing him?

I saw on NFL network that Tyree is on the fringe after missing last season with a knee injury, and given his performance against us, and our lack of depth after Welker/Moss, do you think we should go after him? The Giants very well might cut him since they have something like 10 receivers on their roster that could be ahead of him on the depth chart...

Joey Galloway and Greg Lewis say "Hi. WTF?" :D

Can he rush the passer?

Bringing him in would be like the Red Sox signing Bucky Dent and a career making catch does not a performance make............

Lack of depth? There are like 3 bodies that warrent a roster spot just because of special teams. Lets remember that Galloway is a beast when healthy and Greg Lewis is pretty legit for a #4 WR.

Of all positions, wide receiver may be the one with the least amount of concern. Tyree would be battling for #5 or #6 on the depth chart, and since he is coming off an injury somebody else would make more sense; #4 or lower needs to contribute more on special teams than he does in the passing game.

I watched the Pats/Giants Super Bowl with my friend who is a huge Giants fan and when Tyree caught that pass, his immediate reaction was "It is about God damn time you caught a pass this year!". Based on that little nugget, I would say the Pats have no interest in him. I guarantee you if he is cut, my friend won't shed a tear.

If Tyree can't make the Giants' roster with their shambles at WR, why would the Pats want him? The Giants don't have a receiver on their roster who gained over 600 yards last year. Funny, the Pats' #3 and #4 WR would actually have a shot to start on the Giants right now if they were on their roster.

If you told a Giants fan before the Super Bowl that it would come down to whether David Tyree caught a big catch on a critical third down, none of them would even have watched the Super Bowl because they all would have assumed they had no shot at winning. Tyree had 4 catches in the regular season in 2007.

Your kidding right.

Two mentions of this guy in one day :ugh:

#6? More like #7 or #8. . . . Moss, Welker, Galloway, Lewis + Aiken, Edelman, and Tate (if healthy).

I doubt Edelman, Aiken and maybe Tate would be ahead of him on the depth chart this year...I brought this up not so much because of his pass WR skills, but the fact that he is a former pro bowl special teamer, more proven than Aiken/Ventrone...

Sign Tyree? BAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Only to have the fans take turns kicking him in the nuts.

Both are question marks...Galloway because of age and coming off an important injury, and Lewis because he has never been a #4 reciever and we don't know how he will play out there, but besides that I think Tyree would be used as more of a special teamer here anyway...
