The new name David Ortiz on the internet lately is ... Big PopUp.

I think we're a better team with Mike Lowell as the DH.

There ... I said it ... let the hate begin.

He's done as a big swinging slugger...as much as he is beloved it may be his last contract with the team. 2011 will be his last years if they bother to pick up his option for that year.

I'm not concerned with Papi, I'm concerned that we're paying a guy $14 million who rarely comes through in the clutch when we need him too.

Not true; he's still a big swinger, he's just not a slugger...........

There should be no hating on you for saysing what you said; when a guy is done, he's done, end of story.

When you come in the game as a pinch hitter with runners on the idea is to swing the bat. he takes 3 pitches and then pops up the 4th. With no runners on and needing a run fine ... take a few pitches and try to get on. But his role as a PH was to swing the bat ... he failed.

We have been reduced to rooting for Adam La Roach ... he sucks too.

I'm inclined to agree with you. Frankly, in terms of decreasing expectations, I'm more perplexed by Jason Bay's lengthy feeble performance. It's far beyond the usual "dry stretch." As one who was looking for Theo to lock Bay up a while ago, I have to confess that I'm now not sure that should happen. Theo has been either good or lucky on this one, but I honestly don't care which.

Jason Bay's been stinking up the joint this month, and in June he hit 0.230 with a 0.301 OBP.

The Boston media hasn't been hysterically covering this, because he isn't some big Black dude.

And there it is, it's a racial thing. Arrest him!

I've actuallly heard some very racist things about Ortiz and it's disgusting.

Big Popup just jacked one to center ... #14 - 3 run shot.

6-5 Red Sox ... they need this game bad ... real bad ... sucks to go on the road with a loss.

The sheet just hit the fan. Juiced.

He POPED one out? :D I saw Dave Kingman do that. It looked like a pop up when he hit it, but he hit it so hard it made it over the wall in left and the Sox lost.

 on Dave Kingman ... thanks for the laugh.

That guy used to just swing in the hitting zone ... huge azzed swing at that. He'd either hit a monster shot or miss the ball by at least a foot and a half. ... Dave Kingman ... I remember that dude.

Papi is not entirely over, he batted .320 in June with 7 homers and 18 rbi's, and is batting .220 in July with 5 homers and 19 rbi's. He has turned it around and is on pace to have around 25 homers and 100 rbi's, which is not by any means bad. He started to get hot to late to have a high batting average though.

Laroche is doing good too though so far in Boston. Not bad to in your first 5 games at a new park in a new league be batting .278 with two doubles, a homer, and 3 rbi's.

We do need help though, either in a big pitcher or hitter, but we need it bad.
