I don't want the Pats to waste a draft pick on a guy that won't produce in our system. After we stole Moss from Mr. Davis, I doubt highly that he will take anything lower than a 3rd round pick.

Tops on the surprise list was the truancy of two-time Pro Bowl defensive end Derrick Burgess, who is the only player under contract who did not report for duty.
Burgess is in the final year of his contract that pays him $2 million on top of a $1.5 million roster bonus that was already paid.
This isn't about getting more money out of the Raiders. This is about getting cut or traded now so he can get out of Oakland after four losing seasons. Every day Burgess does not report, it costs him in excess of $17,000 per day, according to Home | ProFootballTalk.com.
"He is not here by choice," Cable said.
what's the most in a draft pick that we're willing to trade for him? A fifth?
Cable said sixth-round pick Stryker Sulak was released earlier this month for no reason other than the defensive end/linebacker wasn't a good match. It was totally football related, not something Sulak did off the field.
"We just felt like the fit wasn't there," Cable said. "It is disappointing but it's not a perfect world here and you do the best you can."
Either way, when a draft pick can't make it to training camp, it's a wasted pick..."
Wow- thank god the Pats went out and actually scouted their picks before hand as opposed to picking the ones with cool names!
In cricket maybe. What, Julian Edelman doesn't sound like a touchdown machine?
I'm not buying the whole "Al Davis won't trade with the Pats because he's mad at New England" theory. I know about what was said with LaMont Jordan and the so-called tampering accusations (which by the way, why were there never any fines or other penalties for that?), but if Davis refuses to deal with the Pats, then how do you explain the Pats trading up to pick up Brace so the Raiders could draft Mike Mitchell (huh?), WR Louis Murphy (who?) and Stryker Sulak (future Pat?)?
Though it would be funny if a trade was made and the Pats announced the signing of Burgess and Sulak at the same press conference.
Well, I guess we agree to disagree. Mitchell wasn't invited to go to the combine and I figured him to be about a 4th or even 5th round prospect; as I recall the consensus was that he was a reach at #40. Perhaps another team would have indeed taken him early in the second round, or perhaps that's just part of how teams bluff and spread rumors.Just a note, if the Raiders hadn't taken Mike Mitchell when they did, There were several other teams who wanted to take him. This came out at the draft.
Louis Murphy was rated a 3rd round pick out of Florida. Not sure how well you follow the draft, but he was on some people's draft lists for the Pats.
Its ok to knock another team's drafting, but acting like they went out and just picked names out of a hat is silly.

I believe that rumor was dispelled, but I'm not certain my memory's clear this morning.
