Randy Moss got snubbed on best hands list?

How can Randy Moss not be in the top 10 best hands of all time? I doubt that Lynn Swann deserved to be on the list more than Randy...also Fred Biletnikoff was on the list? He used stick 'em! Moss should have made the list, and I do think it's too early to put Fitzgerald at number #4...

NFLN is in need of a younger audience, so to make itself relevant......well there ya have it - Pitiful really, not to mention stupid.

I'm not dogging Fitz - He's a great receiver and the current flavor of the month - But seriously, ALL TIME??

I'm not sure he has the Top 10 best hands among wide receivers now. He drops his fair share of balls. He's not Braylon Edwards / Terrell Owens / Calvin Johnson bad, but his hands are not his most outstanding quality.

Old Gluefingers, we called him, and I recall him running toward the end zone, reaching up to his right shoulder with both hands, not bothering to look back for the ball, which had been launched by Otto Graham, the ball falling out of the sky and right into his hands, and nestling there like it had been guided with a string. Touchdown. I fear the only film of this resides in my brain.

A lot of that had to do with terrible weather...I'm sure that a guy like Fitzgerald (who is on the list) would have had similar problems...

As uniquely qualified to comment on Randy's hands having watched him throughout his ENTIRE 11 seasons in the NFL, I would say that Randy was absolutely snubbed. Randy has made more incredible one-hand catches, and sideline catches than any WR I have ever seen.

Anybody remember the Jets game last year.....no one but Randy makes that catch.

How about the one-hander in the Colts game in 2007, or the incredible catch he made in the Jets game on the sidelines on a long pass by Brady?

I have seen all his great catches and Randy does deserve to be top 10 all-time unquestionably in my mind.

I tend to think Randy does have great hands, and you can see the connection with his time with Carter, and there is were Fitz learned how to catch as well. Fitz has great hands, but I'm not sure he should be on the all time list already. He does however do it right, but attacking the ball at its highest point.

Rice should be higher on the list. How can you argue on one end, that Jerry Rice is the greatest Receiver to ever play the game and Not Say he has the greatest hands in the history of the game? Seriously, that's flawed. He should be #1 or #2. Swann is on the list because of his Super Bowl Highlights and some of his great catches. He doesn't have the numbers but could have been #10.

I agree with the poster about Biletnikoff. That guy should be off the list of 10 greatest hands. He clearly used a substance to help him catch the ball. He'd freaking catch the ball with his forearm because he was covered in the Stickem. I'd replace Moss with him for sure on that list.

Realistically the "best hands" probably belong to a bunch of players who most have never heard of. Years after careers are over, most only remember the Hall of Famers. But its probably guys like Troy Brown and Kevin Faulk who have had the best hands. How many guys like that have existed on other teams through all these years?

Moss would have a better argument if this conversation was taking place after a season in which he had more than his fair share of drops. That was something I really noticed last season. While the Moss/Welker combo receive a lot more accolades than our Brown/Branch/Givens group earlier in the decade, I truly believe the latter group had the much better hands. Those guys NEVER dropped the ball. Maybe they couldn't dominate a season like the former group but they were definitely more reliable.

Givens had a few notable drops in his time here.

Don't you have to have excellent hands to make spectacular catches?

The 49ers' thread has an example of a wide receiver who made spectacular catches but did not have great hands: Brandon Lloyd. I think he may have made one of the most difficult catches ever in the NFL while a 49er where he leaned back in the direction opposite his route, tipped the ball up in the air with his fingers, hit the ground, rolled onto his knees and then dove back to the ball to make the fingertip catch. If you ever buy one of the NFL's Greatest Catches videos he'll probably be on it for that and a few others.

He'll also be on the NFL Bloopers reel a couple times for balls which zipped through his hands and conking him in the helmet. There's even film where he's running a crossing route and ducks because a ball is about to hit him in the face.

I'm as big a fan of Moss as anyone but I do not believe he was snubbed. He has really good hands but the top ten is pushing it. I believe Cris Carter has the best hands that I have ever seen. The guy made every catch. Although Moss can make catches no one else would be able to make due to his athleticism...

Sorry but Jerry Rice is probably the best player to ever play the game of football, let alone the best wide receiver.
