From BetUS.com, via Bloomberg news:

[For those of you wondering, "+X" means a $100 bet would return the original $100 + an extra $X; "-X"—not seen here, but often seen in 2007 in connection with the Pats means you have to risk $X to win $100.]

1 New England +400
2 Buffalo +400
3 Pittsburgh +450
4 Tennessee +500
5 Minnesota +700
6 Miami +650
7 Oakland +700
8 Carolina +1000
9 Jacksonville +750
10 Seattle +1500
11 Field +200

I thought teh bookies had more sense than this. . . .

In any case, another set of bookies gives odds on the Pats' second-rounders winning DROY:

Darius Butler . . . 30/1
Patrick Chung . . . 30/1
Ron Brace . . . 25/1

:wha:

More often then not the DROY has the most tackles of any rookie. Brace just isn't going to get those numbers as a NT. Chung should be in the box and putting up bigger numbers while contributing on ST.

As far as my preseason pick for DROY... I would have to say Aaron Curry. 2nd place goes to Brian Orakpo. As long as they are starting the entire season.

ESPN had a reporter when asked where Vick may go

The Answer was the Patriots or Redskins seem the most likely landing spots with the Patriots the likely spot if he goes ANYWHERE.

Lines are for betting. They want to entice people to bet on the Patriots. It has less to do with football than what people think about football.

(Remember E!SPN is talking up Vick to the Patriots, so the "average" fan in Peoria thinks it makes sense because they saw it on Cold Pizza.

I still don't see the Patriots as a landing place for Michael Vick. Contrary to popular belief, I don't think Belichick is enamored with the Wildcat as much as the media seems to think. He could have easily run the Wildcat last year with Faulk as the QB and didn't. I don't think Belichick is all too keen about taking The Franchise off the field for a dozen or more plays or even worse lining him up at WR where he might be more exposed to injury threats. Also, I don't think Belichick wants to tie up a roster spot for five weeks to wait for a gimmick QB who doesn't fit the system (so he wouldn't be a good injury replacement for Brady) to come off of suspension.

This whole theory that Vick will come to the Patriots is based on the perception that Belichick wants to run the Wildcat and that the Pats' lockerroom would be good for Vick to rehab his reputation. I just don't see a real interest. Nor do I think Kraft would sign off on signing Vick.

I have yet to understand where the media gets this from, but if they truly believe that this is the spot for Vick, then I guess we just have to wait and see...

Vick is expected to go to NE or Wash according to the media but I still say its ANOTHER AFC East team, the Bills who are gonna make the move.

Vick as a Buffalo Bill is my guess

Vick here?

...and what is Brady gonna do when he is on the sidelines watching Vick f-up what he could execute in his sleep.

Tell you what, get the ball into the hands of your playmakers, Brady being one of them.

This idea is :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

I don't think this idea is laughable at all. I could see them taking Vick and trying him out as a returner and throwing him in at WR for a couple gadget plays, similar to what the Steelers did with Slash back in the day.

First, Vick has said he doesn't want to play the slash role and wants to play other positions.

Second, Slash was drafted and grown into the Steelers' system. They drafted him with the intent of having him for many years and using him in multiple roles. They will willing to take some of the growing pains for him to learn other rolls for future pay offs. Vick would be here for one year.

Third, Vick has been away from the game for two plus years. He needs to work on getting back into football shape and now you want to add the additional task of learning new positions?

Fourth, just because Vick can run fast doesn't mean he can be a WR or RB. There is a lot more to those roles than just being able to run fast.

This is crazy. We are stocked at the wide receiver position; why would we want a guy playing out there who is not even a wide receiver? Oh ya, that's right, he's fast.

I also can't understand what people are thinking when they talk about Vick as a QB of the Patriots. He is exactly the opposite type of player that BB has shown interest in. BB likes consistently good; Vick is inconsistent and error prone (think not only interceptions but fumbles as well). BB appears to like a player who plays within the system; Vick is constantly improvising. Chad Pennington is BB's style, not Michael Vick.

Just checked the site. The Patriots are now +500 to get Vick. Guess they're starting to come to their senses.

I also think Chung is far and away the likliest Patriot to get ROY, right?

First, just look at the numbers. Chung will begin the season an injury away from a starting spot. Brace will start the season as the 3rd NT (behind Wright) and Butler could be behind as many as 4 CBs.

Second, the best case scenario for Chung is a Bob Sanders-like season where he is getting sacks, stuffing RBs for losses, and getting the occasional INT or pass defended.

...anyone got $10 I can borrow??

Everyone is missing the point. It is a betting line.

Johnny two necks asks the mark, "Hey good odds on NE signing Vick. We're practically giving money away. Better put a C note down."

The betting lines are always more about getting suckers to bet (or not bet) than actual football.
