I want Crable and Woods (and TBC?, sorry that wound is still fresh) to be so good that I'll laugh at the idea of bringing Willie back.

I'm not laughing yet.

You've always been a tad grumpy this time of year.

The only possible advantage to bringing Willie back for Training Camp is what the youngsters who have been watching him on tape could learn from picking his brain. I don't see the value to having a LB who was allowed to leave a year too early back as anything but an late season emergency hire.

Whew! This isn't some internet expose thread about my private parts after all.

He was good in his prime, but unless there is an emergency situation, leave him be...

Did somebody bring up "Wee Little Winkie?" ;)
He tries, some of the new medications haven't helped as much as he'd hoped though.

:agree: Especially when that was four years ago...

When you're still looking for a job on the eve of TC the best thing you can say to anyone who might be listening is "I still want to play, but only for a contender, and btw I've talked to Bill, so we'll see...".

Just ask Ty.

Willie was my favorite Patriot for years ... but really all I want to see him signed for is one day and retire a Patriot. He's a smart guy - he needs a microphone in his hands or perhaps a coaching career at this point.

We can sign him week 5 after LoMo gets put on IR.

I'll rescue this thread from the Maroney obsessed Thread Hijackers...

Willie should return for 1 day to retire as a Patriot. Over The Hill. A speed rusher with no speed makes no sense. At least a big run stoper like Seau playing in the middle can use savvy and undiminished size to get it done. Not an OLB pass rusher with no rush.

Anyone know the scene in Airplane II when the passengers find out they're heading for the sun and the "don't panic" light comes on, and then the "OK, Panic!" light comes on? Signing Big Willie would clearly trigger the "OK, Panic!" sign, at least for me.

You know how people write "LOL" - but they really don't?

I actually did.

Alot of people thought Seau was done when we brought him in. You never know with these guys what they have left if they're put in the right situation. And this defense could use a lift in passing downs/RZ.

different positions different requirements. Seau could wait for ball carriers and explode for two steps to get them. An outside rusher is going to have to grapple with big strong guys, because he's never getting around any - unless they fall down.

Good point but what about when Seau bolted into SD's backfield and tackled Michael Turner for a loss in the AFCC on a very key 3rd and 1 inside the 5. Not too many probably thought he could make those kind of plays for us and he did it in a major spot. You never know what Willie could bring for us. No I'm not banking on him to come back and do the same but I wouldn't be completely against it either.

What lift? He had 1 sack last season.

Or like in Airplane I like my linebackers like I like my coffee......
