Even without the London trip, that still is A LOT of miles for the team to try and avoid jet lag a few times during the season and maybe lay a bad egg along the way
The 2007 season schedule was not only easier than 2009 if you go by last years result of the other teams for this year and on paper, but they didn't even travel far all of the 2007 season as Dallas was as far west as they got that year.
Will 20,759 miles of travel and the wear on a team it can cause be reason for concern as the season progresses into december?

Nice idea for an article but poorly executed.
Never says what the average mileage flown for the NFL is, what the average for the Patirots is, and how the Patriots compare to Colts, etc.
One-third of the Patriots mileage comes from one week, so teh average isn't nearly as high as 20,000 miles in 16 weeks. They will be one equal footing with the Bucs in England, so Jet lag is not a factor, and don't they have their bye week after the England trip? No jet lag there, either.
That leaves 14,000 miles for 7 away games, or an average flight of 1,000 miles. Whoop-do-doo.
The only teams that should have an issue with Jet lag are the west coast teams, who on the average travel much further (compare density of teams in eastern half and western half of hte country) PLUS jet lag is worse going west to east, as any frequent flyer knows.
It still would be a great article, though, if he would dig up more data and analyze it. Maybe graph win-loss record vs miles traveled.
I think the biggest issue with traveling is not the number of miles traveled, but the disruption to the routine and the away crowd noise (silent count, etc)
I know, that is the ultimate insult for the Bucs. THey have a "home" game in a country where the Patriots are the favorite team. To be fair, it should have been a Pats home game. Not the Goodell is ever fair, but at least it's nice to see that he is unthinking, insensitive and arbitrary with teams other than the Pats.At least traveling to London is a road game. For Tampa, its a home game.
