Sirius NFL reports that the draft for 2010 will take place in Prime Time and will now last for 3 days with starting round 1 on Thursday,April 22nd at 7:30 to 10:30pm and Rounds 2 & 3 Friday,April 23rd at 7pm-11:30pm and finally Rounds 4 through 7 on
Saturday,April 24th from 10am-6pm

Actually I love the move by the NFL - Great idea and 3 days is awesome!

The great thing about this is that the NFL just found a way to screw up the draft so badly that I won't end up wasting my time watching it. This is tremendous news, because I'll now get another weekend of my life back.

I don't mind the prime time thing but the greediness is what irks me. and to me that says that no matter what happens with the Labor agreement they are going to keep the draft.

Starting it on Thursday night is dumb. If it were Friday-Sunday I'd think it was a great idea.

The only bad thing is they are keeping the draft location in trashtown for another year

Its time to take it to a different location

Every pick of the first round should take one day.

We'll call it NFL Draft Month.

How about one round per day for a week on prime time TV?

Maybe hold the draft in a different European city each day?

In the Tower of London, Spanish bull ring, Eiffel tower, etc.

I think who ever wins the super bowl that year gets the draft in there city

I guess I am the only one who likes the idea but then again I usually miss the draft during the day while others may have time to watch it.

This sucks. Always looked forward to draft saturday. Now I'll miss just about every second of the first two rounds with this 4:30pm PST start time. I guess west coast NFL fans don't enter into the equation when they're figuring out how to make as much money as possible. But hey, rounds 4-7 on Saturday should be GREAT!

I think it could also make for some really interesting day two trades since the teams have all thursday night to ponder of what they want to do instead of making last second decisions like it is now for rounds 2 and 3.

meh.

......

Not a draftnik, but waiting for 3-4 picks in three rounds was always a great day.

I imagine some guessing and cherry picking will be in order depending on how many picks in which day at which times, now.

In other words, NFL you took a great entertaining day for draftniks and casual fans alike and turned it into a three day commitment. Good going Roger.

I think this is a bad move for the NFL. I enjoyed watching the first day of the draft, not only for my team but for all the teams. It was a fun event. Spread out over three days will dilute the excitement of Day one. I think this will hurt the ratings because most people will just check in to see what number is being picked and not watch until it is time for their team to make a selection.

Each pick should be sponsored ("..and now the 6th pick in the 1 st round, brought to you by Kotex Maxi-Pads....) and different celebrities should announce the picks.

my complaints pale to those on the west coast......it will be funny if a west coast team finishes in last place because the fans of that team will still be at work.

the ultimate FU to this plan would be if the west coast teams pick 1-10 and the east coast teams pick 20-32......I know it is virtually impossible but if it were to happen the west coast would be at work and commute when they pick and the east coast could be sleeping by the time they pick.

for me I guess it doesnt really matter I'll still watch but I find the idea of giving up my days more than my nights. new format is 2 nites and a day old format was sat day and nite and sunday day so 2 days and 1 night.

We never miss a moment, yes, we are nuts.

They way I figure it, I gain a Sunday and lose a night of "must not see TV" on Thur & Fri - so , having he draft on those nights is a good thing.

Of interest though will be the additonal time for wheeling & dealing that three day allows. I think this benefits NE as one thing BB knows how to do is wheel and deal on draft day(s).

See, I went from planning a weekend inside, where I could do little chores around the house in between picks while the volume was cranked up to planning not to bother watching the draft.

Any westcoaster who got a problem with it....i will make ya a deal...we can move the draft back a couple of hours if we can have monday night football start at 7:30 pm. eff the west coast I sick of them getting their way all the time.

I have never lived on the west coast and had to deal with it but I imagine they dont want monday night football to start between 5 and 6 and I imagine they also don't like other games starting at 10 AM. Its not about what you or they want its about balancing it. they rush home from work and get up early all we have to do is stay up late on monday.

I imagine you dont really care that much about watching the draft but FYI if you dont like monday night football ending round midnight you might not like it when we pick after midnight this year.....well aside from the fact that picking later means more success in the season.
